The Lowdown
Alright, my friends, Rusty here with the hard truth. Looking at the next 16 days for Trestraou, it’s a grim outlook. We’ve got a massive dry spell kicking things off. From the 19th all the way through the 26th of July, there’s nothing but tiny, weak swell and poor conditions. That’s a full eight days of flat, choppy nonsense. Don’t even bother waxing up.
The first sign of life comes late on the 26th of July Sunday afternoon. The swell bumps up to 5ft out of the west, with a period of 6 seconds, and the energy hits a moderate 150. But the wind is cross-shore and the quality is still poor. It’s a false alarm.
The 27th of July Monday brings more size – 5ft in the morning, hitting 6ft in the afternoon – both from the WNW. The energy is strong (306 and 383), but the wind is cross-onshore and rough. It’s a powerful, ugly mess. Not what we’re looking for.
The best you’re gonna get is the 28th and 29th of July. Tuesday the 28th has 6ft of WNW swell with a 9-second period and strong energy (416), but the wind is onshore. Wednesday the 29th morning is the pick: 4ft of WNW swell, a 10-second period, energy at 257, and a light, gentle cross-onshore breeze. It’s the cleanest it’s going to be, but it’s still not great. The 29th afternoon drops to 3ft with a 10-second period and a gentle cross-shore wind. A longboard might have a fun little session.
It all fades out after that. The 30th and 31st of July, and the 1st of August, are back to 2ft to 3ft with moderate energy. The 31st of July morning and the 1st of August have clean, offshore winds, but the swell is just too small to care about.
The final days, the 2nd and 3rd of August, look like more of the same small, weak, onshore junk.
So, the only real highlight in this whole 16-day window is the Wednesday 29th of July morning. A 4ft WNW swell, a 10-second period, and the lightest wind of the whole period. It’s not a standout, it’s just the least ugly duckling in the pond. The water is a normal 18° for this time of year, so at least you won’t be shivering while you’re waiting for a wave that never comes.
Rusty.
