Table - best surf conditions forecast for Towradgi over the next 16 days.
Righto, let’s break it down in feet and knots.
Towradgi (reef, exposed)
We’ve got a mixed bag coming up here at Towradgi. The week kicks off with some solid swell, but the wind is going to be a factor. The water temp is about 65°F, which is normal for the season, so a 3/2mm wetsuit is still the call.
The first real standout window is Thursday morning, July 9th. It’s got a solid 5ft of SE swell, running at a 10-second period, with a light SSW cross-offshore breeze. That’s clean, surfable, with moderate energy. A good one to start the session.
The clean conditions hang into Friday morning, July 10th – again 5ft SE swell, 9-second period, light cross-off wind. It’s a good, consistent run.
Then we hit a flat spot. From Saturday afternoon, July 11th, through to Tuesday, July 14th, it really drops out. Tiny waves, not worth the paddle.
Things get wild again mid-week. Wednesday, July 15th, the wind picks up strong from the south, pushing a messy 6ft to 10ft swell. That’s more of a kite-surfing scene than a paddle session.
Thursday, July 16th, through to Saturday, July 18th, sees a big pulse, hitting 15ft on Thursday (very strong energy), but it’s all cross-onshore and lumpy. Only for the bold.
The true standout is Sunday morning, July 19th. After a week of chaos, we get a clean 10ft SE groundswell with an 11-second period, and a light SSW cross-off breeze. The energy is strong, and the conditions are set for excellent surf for experienced surfers. This is the one to circle on the calendar. It’s big, so not for beginners, but for the crew who know what they’re doing, it’s going to be all-time.
The following week sees a return to clean, offshore winds from the west, but the swell is smaller. Monday and Tuesday, July 21st and 22nd, have clean 3ft to 4ft ESE swell, good for a fun, uncrowded session. The morning of Friday, July 24th, also looks promising with a clean 6ft ESE groundswell and light offshore wind.
Summary: The best bet is absolutely Sunday, July 19th morning for the big, clean groundswell. For a smaller, friendlier session, look at Monday or Tuesday, July 21st-22nd.
Rusty.
