Table - best surf conditions forecast for Towradgi over the next 16 days.
G’day, I’m Rusty, and I’ve got the goods on Towradgi for the next couple of weeks. It’s a fairly slow start, so brace for a bit of a wait before things get interesting around here.
Alright, so the first week is pretty quiet. We’ve got some small swell on Saturday the 11th—about 3ft from the ESE with an 11-second period—but the wind’s cross-shore and it’s only rating as marginal. The combined wave energy is 290, so it’s lacklustre. Hold out, mate. From the 12th through the 14th, it’s flat to tiny: offshore winds keep things clean, but swell heights drop to 0.7ft with energy down to single digits. Basically a dead zone for a few days.
Then Wednesday the 15th shows a spike in swell—6ft from the S with a 10-second period, and energy jumps to 1027—but the wind’s cross-shore again, and it’s messy. Thursday the 16th is much the same: 6ft from S, cross-shore wind, and a choppy surface. Not worth paddling out.
Now, the standout window opens Saturday the 18th. The morning glass-off with 3ft from the E, 9-second period, and clean glassy conditions is a real treat. Energy sits at 274, and it’s the first decent option we’ve seen. This is your best bet for the early part of the run—smooth, easy-going waves that’ll be fun for intermediates.
Come Monday the 20th morning, Towradgi fires up proper: 6ft from the E, 10-second period, with a gentle offshore from the WNW and energy at 800. The water’s about average for the time of year at 65°. This is a beauty—clean, lined-up reef waves and the wind’s in your face. Crowds can be a thing here sometimes, so get in early.
Tuesday the 21st brings solid 7ft from the E, 11-second period, but cross-shore winds and energy at 1229 make it a bit chunky. Not the best shape, but there’s power.
The real highlight—and the one to circle on your calendar—is Thursday the 23rd through Friday the 24th. On Thursday morning, we’ve got 12ft from the SSE, 10-second period, with light offshore and clean conditions. Energy is a massive 3753. By the afternoon, it’s glassy with 12ft from the SE at 11 seconds, energy 3899. Friday morning stays glassy with 12ft SE at 11 seconds, energy 2729. This is big, powerful groundswell—only for experienced surfers. It’s too much for beginners, but for the crew who can handle it, Towradgi reef will unload. The water’s still around 65° with a normal anomaly, so not an issue.
After that, Saturday the 25th morning drops to 7ft from the ESE, glassy again and very good, then Sunday the 26th is smaller at 4ft with clean cross-off wind. A solid finish to the run.
So, the pick of the bunch is Thursday the 23rd for the big, clean, glassy conditions—experts only, but it’s a cracker. Saturday the 18th morning is a close second for a mellow, clean session. Get amongst it.
Rusty.
