Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tolcarne over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for Tolcarne over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s a tough stretch. The forecast is a long, flat run with very little to get excited about. The entire 16-day window is basically a write-off for decent waves. We’re looking at a solid two-week gap where the surf just doesn't show up. There’s a tiny flicker of hope right at the very end, but it’s a long way off.
The first real chance of anything rideable doesn't come until the 26th of July. That Sunday morning, we’ve got a whisper of a swell from the southwest at 0.3 ft, but with a long period of 12 seconds. The combined energy is a weak 13, so it’s barely a pulse. The saving grace is a light offshore wind from the south, which will keep the surface glassy and clean. The water temp is about average for this time of year. For a complete beginner, it might be a flat, gentle paddle, but for anyone wanting a wave, it’s pretty much a non-event.
Before that, the whole forecast is a series of "poor surf conditions" with tiny swells and onshore or cross-shore winds. The only thing worth noting is a bit of a bump around the 20th and 21st of July, where the swell height picks up to around 3 ft to 4 ft, and the combined energy gets into the low 100s (moderate energy). But it’s coming from the northwest with a short period of 5-6 seconds, and the wind is a fresh, lumpy cross-onshore. That’s messy, choppy, and more of a kite-surfing setup than a clean paddle session. Not one for the longboard or the shortboard, really.
So, the standout, if you can even call it that, is that Sunday morning on the 26th of July. It’s the only window with clean, offshore wind. But with a swell that small, it’s a promise of a clean, flat ocean more than anything else. Keep your eyes on the charts, but I wouldn’t be making any plans.
Rusty.
