Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ramsgate (The Wall) over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get the lowdown on Ramsgate (The Wall) for the next couple weeks. I’m tellin’ ya, it's a tough watch on paper.
Overall Pattern
We’re looking at a long, flat start. From Sunday the 12th all the way through Wednesday the 16th of July, there’s just zero wave energy. The ocean’s a mirror. Winds are out of the northeast, some fresh gusts, but without any swell, it’s all just a waste. The water temp on that Sunday morning is a balmy 67°F, which is a whole 7°F warmer than normal for this time of year. That’s a weird one.
On Friday the 17th of July, things change for a few hours. Friday morning is still dead, but then Friday afternoon the wind goes totally glassy. A tiny 1.0 ft swell from the SSW shows up with a 5-second period. The combined energy is weak (35). That’s the best wave we’ll see for a long time – small and clean, but just about rideable.
Then we drop off again. From Saturday the 18th through to the 23rd of July, it’s a desert. A huge 6-day gap with basically no surf to speak of.
A more significant bump arrives on Thursday the 23rd of July. A 6 ft swell from the SSW kicks the wave energy into a moderate range (223). That’s actually some size. The catch? It’s a cross-onshore wind, so the surface will be choppy and lumpy. The period is a short 6 seconds, so it’ll be a bit weak and won’t have much power behind it.
After that, the energy fades out through the end of the period with small, weak swells and messy winds.
Standout
Honestly, the only real highlight is that Friday afternoon, 17th of July. The swell is a small 1.0 ft from the SSW, but the wind goes glassy. For a breakwater wave like The Wall, clean, calm conditions are everything. It’s going to be tiny and slow – combined energy is just 35 – but it will be the most pleasant surf of the entire forecast. Not a day for power, but a day for a glassy session.
If you are looking for something with genuine size, the morning of Thursday, 23rd of July has that 6 ft swell. It’ll push a bit, but that cross-onshore wind will chop it up. It’s a decent option if you’re an intermediate and don’t mind a little bump. It’s the only time you’ll get any real power in the whole 16 days.
Steady as she goes.
Rusty.
