Table - best surf conditions forecast for Terra Mar over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get into it.
We’ve got a pretty quiet stretch ahead here at Terra Mar. The surf is going to be small and a bit messy for most of the next two weeks. The first few days are nothing to write home about, with small, weak swell and cross-onshore winds keeping things choppy. The water is sitting at 69°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – nice for a paddle but not much else. The combined swell energy is mostly in the 300 to 400 range, which tells you it’s pretty weak out there.
Tuesday the 7th through the 10th of July, we’re looking at 3 ft to 3 ft swell out of the SSW, but the winds are mostly cross-on or onshore, so it’ll be bumpy and uninviting. Not a single session worth getting excited about yet. The period is long, though – 15 to 18 seconds – which is a classic groundswell, but with such a small size and onshore wind, it’s just not doing anything useful here.
Things stay flat and poor through the middle of the week. By the 14th and 15th of July, the swell drops even more – down to 1 ft or 2 ft – and winds are still cross-on. It’s a real lull. The energy numbers are down in the 200 to 250 range, barely a ripple.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. On Saturday the 18th of July, we finally get a real window. The morning looks marginal with a 3 ft SSW swell and light cross-on breeze, but the afternoon turns special. The wind goes glassy – a solid 3 mph from the SSE – and the combined energy jumps to 781, which is moderate. The swell direction is SSW, and while that’s not the absolute optimum from the WSW for Terra Mar, it’s a southwest groundswell of 3 ft with a period of 18 seconds. That long period means it’ll have some shape, but at a point break, it can work nicely. This is the best on offer – a clean, glassy afternoon with small but fun waves. It’s a standout, even if it’s not huge.
Then on Sunday the 19th of July, the swell picks up a little more – 5 ft out of the S with a period around 13-14 seconds – but the winds are onshore or cross-on, so it’s marginal at best, with energy in the 1200 range. That’s moderate to strong energy, but the conditions won’t do it justice. Probably better for the experts if they’re keen on a bigger, messier day.
After that, from Monday the 20th through the end of the forecast, it drops back to small junky surf with consistent cross-onshore winds. Nothing to plan a session around.
So, bottom line: don’t waste your time until Saturday afternoon the 18th of July. That’s your window. A glassy, clean point break with tiny but rideable waves. The rest of the run is a write-off, really. But hey, forecasts can change, and it’s not often this place stays poor for so long.
