The Lowdown
Howdy, it’s Rusty.
Right now we’re sitting in a flat spell at South-Crescent Bay – nothing worth paddling out for in the next few days. The swell’s tiny, winds are mostly cross or onshore, and even the longer-period pulses aren’t lining up with the optimum SSW direction. You’ll see a couple of marginal windows around July 19–20, but the surf stays weak and choppy, with heights barely scraping 3 ft. Not worth getting wet.
Things start to wake up toward the end of next week. On Friday July 24, a long-period SW groundswell fills in at 2 ft with a 24-second interval – real clean lines if the light cross-shore holds. The combined energy is moderate‑to‑strong (765), but honestly that’s more of a longboard or fin‑less session; the size is small. Good for a few mellow ones, but not the main event.
