The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty comin' at you from the local lineup. Let’s have a look at what’s on the table for South-Crescent Bay over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s a quiet spell. Don’t get your hopes up for anything firing. We're looking at a lot of marginal days with small, weak energy that's mostly cross-shore or onshore. The first week is pretty flat and bumpy, and the second week doesn’t offer much to get excited about either. There’s a gap from around the 31st of August through to the 5th of September where conditions are just poor, before we see a very slight lift.
If you’re absolutely desperate to get wet, the best of a very average bunch looks to be Wednesday the 26th of August. The morning session offers the biggest swell we’ll see, with 4ft of S swell. The wave energy is moderate (725), but it’s coming in with a 12-second period and a cross-shore wind. It's not perfect, with some chop on it, but it'll be surfable. The afternoon is similar but a touch weaker (603).
Another half-decent option is Saturday the 5th of September. The morning shows 4ft of SSW swell (681) with a light onshore wind, so it'll be pretty clean. Again, not a standout, but it's the best looking day of the second week. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so nothing weird there.
For the rest of the month, you’re looking at waist-high or smaller surf, often choppy or messy with no real push. The swell energy is weak, mostly under 400, and the winds are rarely in your favor. This one’s for the die-hards who just need a paddle. Keep the expectations low.
Rusty.
