Table - best surf conditions forecast for Laguna Beach - South Crescent Bay over the next 16 days.

The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for South Crescent Bay over the next couple of weeks.

Overall, it's a pretty quiet run. The water is sitting at a very warm 72°, which is a solid 5° warmer than usual for this time of year, so you’ll be shedding the wetsuit booties. The wave energy is weak for most of the period, with only a few days showing moderate energy. We’ve got a long wait ahead for anything decent.

Wednesday the 9th and Thursday the 10th are a write-off. The swell is tiny, under 3ft, and the wind is either cross or cross-onshore, making it a messy, marginal affair. The combined energy is weak, sitting at 275 on Wednesday morning, and barely nudging into the moderate zone at 497 on Thursday morning, but the quality is just not there.

Friday the 11th through to Tuesday the 24th is a real slog. The swell stays small, mostly under 3ft, and the wind is a persistent problem. It’s cross-shore, cross-onshore, or onshore, with moderate breezes creating chop. The wave energy is predominantly low, with values mostly in the 100-400 range. The only real glimmer in this stretch is the morning of Wednesday the 23rd. The wind goes glassy, which is a huge positive, and the swell is a clean 3ft from the SW. The energy is moderate at 281, and the period is a short 15 seconds. This is the standout of the entire forecast. It’s not a big swell, but glassy conditions at a pretty consistent spot like South Crescent Bay will make it the best on offer for a clean, cruisy session. Expect crowds as it’s a spot that’s often busy.

After that, the last few days of the forecast window, Thursday the 24th, is back to the same old story of small, wind-affected surf. Nothing to get excited about.

So, if you’re keen, circle Wednesday morning the 23rd. The rest of the time, you’re probably better off waiting for the next forecast update.

Rusty.
