Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rivermouth over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, let's talk about what's goin' on at Rivermouth for the next couple of weeks. The water's a touch cooler than normal, sittin' at about 65°F with a 3°F anomaly, so it's a bit nippy.
The first few days are pretty much a wash. We've got some solid swell pushin' in, but the wind is just wreckin' it. Thursday the 9th starts with a 7ft southerly swell, but that cross-off wind (12 mph) is gonna keep it from cleanin' up. The combined energy is strong (1478). By Thursday afternoon, it's even bigger at 7ft, but the wind goes cross-shore, and it's messy. Friday the 10th is the same story – 8ft from the south in the morning, a bit of cross-off, but it's still marginal. The energy is still strong (2335). Honestly, it ain't worth paddlin' out for a few days.
We've got a dry spell for a few days here. Saturday and Sunday the 11th and 12th are poor – the wind is onshore or cross-onshore, the swell drops, and the energy weakens. The morning of Wednesday the 15th is the first real glimmer. We've got a 5ft easterly swell with a moderate 10-second period, but the wind is light offshore from the NW (3 mph), makin' it clean. The energy is weak (490), so it's not powerful, but it's surfable. That's the best of the first week.
Now, lookin' further out, things start to get more interestin'. The morning of Monday the 20th July is a real standout. The wind is light offshore from the NNE (6 mph), the swell is a solid 7ft from the east, and the water's gonna be clean. The energy is moderate (968), and the guidance says "very good surf conditions." This is your best bet for the whole window – consistent, clean, and a decent size for a solid session.
Then, on Thursday the 23rd July, we get another cracker. The morning has a 7ft easterly swell with a short period (9 seconds), but it's the afternoon that's the pick. The wind swings to a light offshore from the WNW (6 mph), the swell stays at 7ft, and the energy is strong (1193). The guidance calls it "excellent surf conditions for experienced surfers." That's a big call. And then Friday the 24th July morning is glassy – NE wind at 3 mph, 8ft of east swell, clean as a whistle. That's another one for the experienced crew, with energy at 1135.
So, the first week is a bit of a dud, but the second week has some proper gems. Don't bother with the early stuff. Mark your calendar for Monday 20th July for a solid, clean session, and then Thursday 23rd July afternoon and Friday 24th July morning for some real quality waves for those who can handle a bit of size.
