Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rhos-On-Sea over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’.
To be straight with you, the next couple of weeks are a real struggle. We’ve got a long dry spell staring us in the face. From now, right through until at least the morning of Saturday the 19th of July, there’s nothing worth paddling out for at Rhos-On-Sea. That’s over a week of flat to near-flat, onshore junk with barely a ripple of energy – the combined energy tops out at a measly `25` on the Sunday afternoon of the 12th, but even then the wind is straight onshore and messy. Total write-off for a surfer.
Honestly, this is one of those spells where the ocean just shuts down. Feels like the whole place is holding its breath. Not a single wave in that first week and a half is even close to being rideable. If you’re a kite surfer, some of those choppy onshore days might give you something to play with, but for a paddle surfer, leave the board at home.
We finally see a flicker of life on the morning of Sunday the 19th. A little pulse of swell shows up, `2 ft` from the N, but the wind is onshore from the ENE at `6 mph` – not clean, not really surfable. The combined energy is only `15`. Monday the 20th is the first time we get something a bit cleaner: the morning is light cross-shore from the NW, but the swell is tiny at `1 ft` from the NW. By Monday afternoon, the wind shifts to a light cross-off from the NW and it goes clean, but again, `1 ft` is barely a ripple – combined energy of `3`. Not a session, just a bit of hope.
Tuesday the 21st is more of the same: tiny `1 ft` NW swell with light cross-onshore breeze. Clean enough to look at, but not enough push to stand up on.
That’s about it. The rest of the window after the 21st is mostly flat again, with a few glassy mornings but zero swell. The water temp is sitting at `65°F`, which is a massive `7°F` warmer than normal for this time of year – that’s very unusual. Feels like a bath, but there’s no wave to enjoy it with.
So the honest truth, mate – there is no standout. There is no best day. The whole 16-day forecast is one long gap of poor to no surf. If you are desperate, the cleanest and least ugly moment is probably the afternoon of Monday the 20th of July, but you’d be floating around on ankle-biters. Better to wait for the next system to roll in.
Stay patient. Rusty.
