The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what’s on the cards for Rhos-On-Sea over the next couple of weeks.
First off, I gotta be straight with you – it’s looking pretty grim. The water is sitting at 67°, which is a whopping 8° warmer than normal for this time of year, which is very unusual, but that’s about the only thing that’s got any energy. The swell is tiny, the period is short, and the combined wave energy is next to nothing for the whole 16-day window. You’re not going to find a single standout day here; it’s all poor surf conditions.
We start off on Wednesday the 15th with a little 1ft NE windswell at 3 seconds, but it’s onshore and the energy is a measly (3). That’s about as exciting as it gets for the next week. Thursday and Friday are barely a ripple, with nothing breaking 1.0ft. Saturday the 18th morning sees a slight bump to 2ft from the NW with a cross-offshore breeze, energy at (16), but it’s still weak and inconsistent. By Sunday the 22nd, we get a glassy morning with 1ft, but again, it’s just not enough to get wet for.
The best we can hope for is probably the morning of Friday the 24th, with a 3ft NW swell at 5 seconds, a clean cross-offshore wind, and energy hitting (54). That’s the biggest swell of the period, but it’s still a short-period windswell and the break is inconsistent. It’s a point break, so it *might* offer a few closeouts, but don’t expect much. After that, it drops back to nothing. From the 26th through to the 30th, it’s virtually flat with zero wave energy. This is a normal blank run for this area, I’m afraid.
So, in short, leave the board in the car. The forecast can always change, but for now, the only thing doing any work is the wind. The setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing right now.
Rusty.
