Table - best surf conditions forecast for Playa de Traba over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty, and I’ve got eyes on the next couple of weeks for Playa de Traba. Let’s cut through the data and talk waves.
First up, the honest truth: the start of this forecast is a tough one. We’re looking at a long stretch of small, weak, and messy surf. From now through to about the 20th of July, it’s mostly a write-off. The swell is tiny, often under 3ft, with short periods and a lot of cross-off or cross-shore wind. The combined energy is weak, often under 150 (117), so there’s just no punch. Tuesday morning the 14th does see a glassy window with a light breeze, but the swell is only 2ft from the NNE, so it’s more of a float than a ride. Don’t expect much.
The 20th of July shows a bump in size—4ft to 4ft—but it’s coming with a messy cross-onshore wind and short period, so the quality is poor. The energy is moderate (215 to 223), but it’s not going to be clean.
Now, the real standout. The 21st of July, Tuesday morning, is where things get interesting. Swell jumps to 8ft from the NNW, with a period of 8 seconds and the combined energy is strong (909). The wind is a light breeze from the NE, which is a clean cross-off. That’s your best bet for a solid, powerful session. It’s a big swell, over 8ft, so this is only for experienced surfers. The energy is very strong, and the conditions are clean. That’s the one to circle on your calendar.
The following days, 22nd to 25th of July, keep the size up around 7ft to 7ft, but the wind gets tricky. The 23rd Thursday morning has a glassy start with 7ft from the NNE, and the 25th Saturday morning is also glassy with 7ft from the NNE. Both of those mornings are worth a look for a clean, powerful session, but the swell is short period (6-7 seconds), so it’s not the most lined-up. The 24th Friday is a no-go with cross-onshore winds.
The 26th and 27th see the size holding at 7ft to 8ft, but the wind is cross-off or cross, so it’s going to be choppy and messy. The energy is there (467 to 575), but the quality drops.
Overall, the best surf on offer is the 21st of July Tuesday morning for the big, clean, powerful swell. The 23rd and 25th mornings are good backup options for clean, but smaller waves. Don’t bother with the first week; it’s a flat spell.
Rusty.
