Table - best surf conditions forecast for Northcott over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for Northcott over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you: it’s looking like a pretty lean stretch. The first real opportunity to get wet doesn't show up until Thursday the 9th of July, and even then, it’s not going to blow your mind. There’s a good three or four days of flat, poor conditions before that.
For Thursday morning, the 9th, we’ve got a tiny 2ft west swell rolling in, period hanging around 10 seconds, so some small, weak lines. The real highlight here is the wind – glassy, light NNE cross-offshore. That’ll keep the surface clean. The wave energy is pretty weak (90), so don’t expect much push. It’s more of a longboard or a funboard sesh. By the afternoon, the wind swings NNW and picks up, turning it cross-on and choppy – game over for the session.
Friday morning the 10th offers a slight bump: same 3ft west swell, but with a clean easterly offshore wind. The energy creeps into the moderate zone at 109. It’s still small, but the conditions will be tidy. Friday afternoon gets messy again with a cross-shore northerly.
The weekend? Honestly, pretty quiet. Saturday the 11th morning might have a tiny 2ft west swell with clean offshore ENE winds, but it’s so small and weak (71 energy) that you’ll be fighting for any bump. After that, the swell drops right off into the dirt.
From Sunday the 12th all the way through to around Wednesday the 23rd of July, it’s a long, dry spell. We’re talking swell heights dropping to 0.3ft and 0.7ft, and even when there’s a little bump, the wind is either howling offshore at 18-25 mph or blowing cross-on. The water temp anomaly doesn't really apply here since there’s no real surf to talk about.
The only other thing worth a mention pops up on the very last day of the forecast, Thursday the 23rd of July. There’s a 3ft north swell coming in with a short, choppy 5-second period and a cross-offshore SSE breeze. The energy is still low (86), and a period that short means it’ll be a bit of a mess. It’s something to keep an eye on if the wind stays kind, but don’t get your hopes up.
For this stretch, if you’re desperate for a paddle, Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th mornings are your best bet. Small, clean, and quiet – nothing special, but a chance to get out. The standout of the whole period is probably Friday the 10th morning for the cleanest conditions with that west swell.
Rusty.
