Table - best surf conditions forecast for Newdicks Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, I’m Rusty, and here’s the lowdown for Newdicks Beach.
Let’s be honest, the first ten days or so are a bust. Tiny, weak swell with combined energy readings barely getting into double digits (43). It’s flat, it’s small, and you’re better off waxing your board at home. The water temp is 15°, which is about par for the course this time of year. From now until around July 19th, it’s pretty much all poor surf.
But hang tight, because around the 19th of July, the ocean wakes up. Sunday the 19th sees a rise. The morning is a cleaner 1.7m from the NNE, but the afternoon brings a 2.4m swell from the NNE, with a combined energy of 558, and a light offshore wind keeping it tidy. It’s a start, but the best is yet to come.
The one to circle on your calendar is Monday the 20th of July. For the experienced surfer, this is the day. The morning is totally glassy with a solid 3.5m groundswell from the NNE. The period is a solid 11 seconds, and the combined energy is a massive 3042. This is powerful, serious stuff. The glassy conditions will make it look perfect, but at this size, it’s for experts only. The swell direction lines up perfectly with the break.
Tuesday the 21st of July morning is still going strong, with 2.5m from the NNE and a combined energy of 2043, and clean cross-off winds. It’s still big, but a bit more user-friendly than Monday. The crowds here can be a nuisance sometimes, so plan to beat the rush.
After that, it drops off. The 22nd of July has a clean 1.5m in the morning, but the wind comes onshore in the afternoon, and the days after are small and messy.
So, the long story short: the first week is a waste. The real action is on Monday the 20th of July morning for a powerful, glassy session, and Tuesday the 21st of July morning as a great follow-up. Don’t miss those two.
Rusty.
