Table - best surf conditions forecast for Little Avalon over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty comin' at ya live from the Little Avalon (reef) zone. Let's get into it.
We've got a mixed bag ahead, but a couple of sessions are lookin' real tasty if you time it right. The water temp is sittin' around 66°, about normal for this time of year, so that's no surprise.
We start off with a little pulse on Wednesday afternoon, but it's a bit of a tease with a 4ft swell from the ESE at 13 seconds, and a cross-off S wind at 12 mph. The wave energy is moderate (462), but conditions are a bit marginal. The real standout kicks off Thursday morning, July 9th. That's your best bet early on. We’re lookin' at a solid 6ft swell from the SE with a nice 10-second period, and the wind is offshore, light from the SW at just 3 mph. That's glassy, clean perfection for an advanced crew, with moderate-strong wave energy (826). This spot is exposed, so it'll be swallowing that energy up. Thursday afternoon holds up, and Friday morning, July 10th, stays clean with an offshore breeze and similar 6ft SE swell (524).
After that, things fade fast. Saturday and Sunday see the swell drop right off, dropping to under 3ft by Sunday with weak energy. From Sunday afternoon (July 12th) all the way through the week and into the next weekend, it goes pretty much flat or tiny. There's a long dry spell of about 8-9 days with barely a ripple.
Now, hold tight. The horizon lights up again on Monday, July 20th. A big pulse of 7ft SE swell at 11 seconds (949) rolls in, but it comes with a cross-onshore wind, so the quality is a write-off for paddle surfing. That kind of setup is more interesting for the kite crew.
But then, Tuesday morning, July 21st, that's your second standout. The wind swings back to a light offshore from the W at just 3 mph. The swell is still a solid 5ft from the SE at 11 seconds, with moderate-strong energy (560). This is prime for the advanced surfer. It's an exposed reef break, and the conditions will be clean. Expect it to be a bit lined up and punchy.
Wednesday the 22nd offers a smaller, cleaner option with a 3ft ESE swell and glassy conditions in the afternoon, and Thursday the 23rd has an offshore breeze but a smaller swell.
So, bottom line: hit Thursday the 9th and Tuesday the 21st. Those are the gems. The big swell on the 20th is a no-go for surfing, but the Tuesday after is the one.
Rusty.
