Table - best surf conditions forecast for Little Avalon over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s on the menu for Little Avalon over the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, we’ve got a bit of a slow start with not a lot to get excited about. The first real chance at anything decent won’t show up until Saturday the 20th of July, and even then it’s a marginal call. Before that, we’ve got a long stretch of small, weak, or flat conditions from now through to Friday the 19th. The energy just isn’t there.
The real standout window, and the one to keep your eye on, is Monday the 21st of July into Tuesday the 22nd. That Tuesday morning is looking like the pick of the whole outlook. We’ve got a clean 5 ft swell from the east, with a period of 10 seconds. The combined energy of all swells directed here is moderate at 403, and with a gentle offshore breeze from the south-southeast, it’s gonna be clean. That’s a proper little session for the advanced crew out at this exposed reef break. Just a heads-up, the optimum swell direction is from the northeast, so this east swell isn’t a perfect match, but it’s still got enough grunt.
Before that, on Monday the 20th of July, we see a pulse of bigger energy. The morning shows a 5 ft swell from the east-northeast, with a period of 10 seconds, and combined wave energy is strong at 840. That’s a solid size, but it’s a cross-shore wind from the north-northwest, and conditions are described as marginal with questionable tide. Not ideal, and the afternoon turns onshore and choppy. Definitely a day for the experienced only if you’re keen, but the quality is not there.
After that Tuesday morning peak, things drop off again pretty quickly. Wednesday the 22nd into the end of the month is mostly small, weak surf with occasional clean conditions, but nothing worth writing home about. The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
Bottom line: if you want the best of what’s on offer, pencil in the morning of Tuesday the 21st of July. That’s your window. The rest is mostly small and ordinary, with a couple of days that are better for a beach stroll than a paddle.
Rusty.
