Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let me be straight with you – this forecast is a rough one for Le Kerou. We've got a long, lean stretch of nothing much ahead. Let’s get into it.
First off, the water temp is sitting at a pretty average 64°F for this time of year, nothing special there.
The outlook kicks off with a tiny window on Sunday the 5th. Early morning, the wind is dead calm, glassy as a mirror. There’s a tiny 2ft swell rolling in from the west with a period of 10 seconds, giving us a weak 76 combined energy. It’s surfable, but just barely. It’s a beginner spot anyway, and with conditions that clean, you could get a few grovelly ones if you’re desperate. But by the afternoon, that WSW wind swings in at 12 mph, turning it into a choppy mess. That’s your only real shot in the first week.
After that, we are looking at a brutal 8-day gap with nothing worth paddling out for. From Monday the 6th all the way through to Monday the 13th, it’s all small, weak, and onshore or cross-shore junk. A lot of those days see swell under 2ft and combined energy values barely hitting double digits, with onshore winds ruining any chance of a clean face. This is flat spell territory.
Then, on Tuesday the 14th morning, we get a tiny flicker of hope. A clean 2ft west swell with a 9 second period, combined energy of 102, and light offshore winds from the NE at 6 mph. The wave comment even says "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions." That sums it up – it’s the best on offer across the whole 16 days, but it's still just ordinary. It’s a clean little wave for a beginner. That's your one and only standout of the whole run.
From there it’s back to the same story. Wednesday the 15th through the end of the period on July 20th is a long line of tiny swells and crummy winds. The 16th and 17th have some moderate offshore winds, but the swell is down to 1ft to 2ft – not enough push to do anything with. By the 20th, we’re talking 1ft and a fresh 19 mph onshore wind. Not even worth looking at.
Bottom line: Mark your calendar for the morning of Tuesday the 14th if you’re a beginner who just wants to sit on a board in clean water. Otherwise, this forecast is a washout.
