Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let's break down what's going on at Le Kerou for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, the immediate outlook is a total bust. We're looking at a long, flat spell with nothing worth paddling out for over a week and a half. The first real chance of a wave doesn't show up until Sunday, July 19th. So don't even bother with your wetsuit until then.
The water temp at Le Kerou is 63°, which is pretty average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
For the entire first week, right through Saturday the 18th, the swell is tiny and the wind is messy. You'll get some clean offshore breezes, like on Monday the 13th, but with wave heights at 0.7 ft to 1.0 ft and the combined energy barely registering, there's nothing to ride. It's a total non-event.
Now, on Sunday the 19th of July, things finally start to change. The morning shows a bump to 5 ft from the west, with an 8-second period and combined energy of 260 (moderate). It's still a bit marginal. But the afternoon is the real standout. We get a clean 6 ft swell from the west-northwest, with an 8-second period and combined energy jumping to a solid 670 (strong). The wind is a light cross-offshore from the north-northwest, keeping the surface clean. This is your best bet for the whole forecast. It's a beach break, so that short period will stop it from getting too dumpy. But at 6 ft, it's not a day for beginners.
Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st have some surfable waves, but nothing special. Monday drops back to 3 ft from the west-northwest with cross-shore wind and chop. Tuesday morning offers a clean 4 ft from the west, but the energy drops back to 150 (weak). It's a session if you're itching, but not a highlight.
So, the takeaway: save your energy for the afternoon of Sunday, July 19th. That's the one to target. The rest of the period is a long wait, but when that swell hits, it should be a good one. Forecasts can shift, so keep an eye on it.
Rusty.
