Right, grab a coffee, let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Le Kerou over the next couple of weeks. I gotta be straight with you—this stretch is a quiet one. A real quiet one.
We’re looking at a long, long gap here. The first few days are a write-off, mate. Tuesday the 7th through to Thursday the 10th are offering tiny waves, mostly 1.0ft to 2ft, but the wind is all over the shop – cross-on, cross-off, just messy. Combined wave energy is weak, barely cracking 25 to 66, so there’s nothin’ to get excited about.
Thursday morning the 9th is the first real sniff of a chance, with a glassy 2ft swell from the W with a 9-second period and clean offshore winds from the ENE. But it’s weak energy (64), and the afternoon goes to crap with a 12 mph cross-on. It’s a morning-only, sneaky little session for a longboard if you’re desperate.
Friday the 10th morning is similar – 2ft, W swell, a bit of side-offshore breeze, and clean, but again, the energy is low (60). It’s surfable, but very ordinary. Then we hit another dead zone. From the 11th through the 16th of July, the swell drops to nothing – down to 0.3ft. That’s a full six days of pretty much flat conditions. Not worth paddling out.
Now, lookin’ further ahead, there is a bit of a pulse around the 17th. Friday the 17th morning, we’ve got a 4ft swell from the WSW, but the period is a short 7 seconds, and the wind is cross-on at 12 mph. The combined energy jumps to 261 (moderate energy), but the conditions are poor – choppy and messy. This one is for the bigger boards, but it’s not gonna be pretty. The swell gets over 3ft, so it’s not for beginners, but it’s not big either.
The best of the whole forecast, and I mean the only real stand-out, is lookin’ at Wednesday the 22nd of July. Not a typo. That’s over two weeks away. Wednesday morning the 22nd, we see a small 2ft swell from the WNW, but the wind goes glassy – dead calm – offshore from the ENE. The combined energy is weak (57), but clean, glassy surf on a small swell with a 6-second period is maybe okay for a fun little longboard wave. It’s not gonna be a classic, but it’ll be the cleanest you’ll see in this entire outlook.
So, overall, it’s a tough one. The start is flat, the middle is flat, and only the very end of the 16 days offers a tiny, clean window. For the love of surfing, keep your expectations low. If you’ve a kite, the 17th might be more interesting than a paddle board.
Rusty.
