Table - best surf conditions forecast for Le Kerou over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Le Kerou over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it's a pretty grim stretch on the whole. The swell is almost always tiny, and on the rare occasions it does bump up, the wind is usually blowing straight onshore and ruining any chance of a decent wave. We're looking at a long, frustrating run of knee-high slop or close-outs. The only real window of interest comes next Saturday, the 18th of July, but even that is a mixed bag.
The water is currently a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, coming in at 65°, so that's a small mercy.
For the first week, from Friday the 10th through to Friday the 17th, there's absolutely nothing worth paddling out for. We're talking flat spells and combined wave energy barely registering (61 or less), with most days offering a pathetic 1.0 ft to 2 ft of weak, wind-affected crud. The wind is almost always cross-on or onshore, so the surface is just a mess.
The one standout, if you can call it that, is Saturday morning, 18th July. The wind is due to be completely glassy, calm, and a 3 ft SW swell has enough combined energy to push into triple digits (111). It's surfable, but the conditions are described as "very ordinary," so don't expect much. That glassy morning window is your only real chance for a clean wave, but it's small and poor quality. The afternoon sees the wind swing back onshore and the surf gets choppy again.
After that, the following week from Sunday the 19th through to Thursday the 24th, it's back to tiny, poor surf. The wind does go offshore on the 20th and 21st, but the swell is only 1.0 ft. It'll be clean, glassy water, but you'll need a longboard and a lot of patience just to catch a ripple. The combined energy is pitiful (14-22).
The very end of the outlook, around Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th, shows a bit of a spike in energy, with the combined swell energy hitting 229 on Friday afternoon and 205 on Saturday. However, the swell is still only 3 ft to 3 ft, and the wind is fresh onshore or onshore, meaning it'll be lumpy, choppy, and messy. Not a good bet.
So, bottom line: the only half-decent session in the whole 16-day window is the incredibly small window of the glassy morning on Saturday the 18th. It's poor, but it's the best we've got.
Rusty.
