Table - best surf conditions forecast for Le Kerou over the next 16 days.
Alright, listen up. Rusty here. Let's take a look at what we've got on offer.
Honestly, it’s a tough stretch ahead for Le Kerou. We're looking at a real dry spell for any decent waves. The water’s sitting at 65°F which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s about the only good news.
The pattern is mostly small, weak, and messy. For the first eleven days, we’re staring at a whole lot of nothing. Thursday the 9th through to Sunday the 20th of July is just a long, flat gap with no surf worth mentioning. The swell energy is pitiful, often with combined energy in the double digits – that’s weak, no two ways about it. The wind is mostly cross-on or onshore, and the surf reports all come back as "poor surf conditions."
Even when we scrape a little swell, the quality just isn't there. There’s a day on Tuesday the 14th of July that starts with a glassy 2ft SW swell, but the period is a short 6 seconds, so no power or shape to it. Paddling out might be easy, but you won't want to.
Finally, we see a little pulse on Monday the 20th of July. The morning brings a 4ft swell from the W with a weak 6-second period. The combined energy kicks up to 231 (moderate wave energy) and the wind is clean cross-off from the NNW. But the surf call is still only "marginal." It’s surfable but ordinary. All the other days around that time are still small and choppy.
Looking further out to Wednesday the 22nd of July, another small bump shows up. 4ft from the W with a 6-second period and combined energy of 170. The wind is light cross-off from the NNW, so it might be the most appealing of the lot, but even then the surf is only described as "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions." For the rest of the forecast, it just trails off again into tiny, clean but weak swell.
Bottom line, there are no standouts here. Nothing for beginners because the swell will be tiny, and nothing for the experienced because there’s no size or power. If you’ve got a kite, those cross-on days might offer more fun than a paddle board, but for pure surfing, it’s a real bummer of a forecast.
Rusty.
