Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Le Kerou over the next couple of weeks.
Le Kerou is a beginner-friendly, fairly consistent spot that’s wide open to the west. The water temp is sitting about average for this time of year, so nothing wild there. Right now, we’re in a bit of a dry spell. The first real chance for a paddle isn’t until Saturday, July 4th, and even then it’s pretty ordinary. Saturday morning, we’ve got a tiny 2.6ft swell from the WSW with a 10-second period – combined wave energy is weak (133) – but the wind is glassy, coming from NNE at 0 mph. That’s clean, but the waves are just too small to get excited about. Saturday afternoon the wind swings onshore and picks up to 15.5 mph, so that’s done.
Sunday, July 5th through to Saturday, July 11th is a long stretch of poor conditions. We’re talking tiny swell, mostly 1.3ft to 2.0ft, and wind is either onshore or cross-on/off, never truly favourable. The combined energy is weak (mostly under 100) and those clean-looking morning slots like Monday the 6th and Wednesday the 8th only have 1.3ft to 1.6ft of swell, so there’s nothing to ride. It’s a flat spell, plain and simple.
Things try to pick up a bit on Sunday, July 12th. The afternoon shows a bump in swell to 4.3ft from the WNW, period still 9 seconds, and combined energy jumps to 338 (moderate). But the wind is a fresh cross-onshore at 18.6 mph, making it lumpy. With those conditions and a beach/reef setup, this might be more interesting for kite surfing than a paddle board. Not worth a recommendation for surfing.
From Monday, July 13th onward, it’s more of the same. Swell stays small, wind stays messy, and the scores are all zeros. Even the clean morning on Wednesday the 15th only offers 2.0ft – not enough to do anything with.
Honestly, there are no standouts here. The whole 16-day window is a write-off for quality surf. The only faint glimmer is Saturday July 4th morning, but that’s a one-session wonder with very weak energy. For a spot that’s fairly consistent, this is a rough run, but it happens. Forecasts can change, so don’t give up hope just yet.
