Table - best surf conditions forecast for La Boca Con Con over the next 16 days.
G'day, Rusty here, with a look at what's coming up for La Boca Con Con. We've got a bit of a mixed bag on the cards, but there are a couple of absolute sessions to get excited about.
The overall pattern sees a couple of solid pulses of swell, with a big gap of small, clean conditions in the middle and a monster swell at the end that's only for the brave. The water's sitting at 55°, which is about 2° colder than usual for this time of year, so maybe grab a thicker wetsuit for the early sessions.
The first real standout is Thursday morning, the 9th of July. It's glassy, with a 6ft SW swell (13-second period) rolling in. The combined energy is strong (1821), and for a beginner-friendly spot that's very consistent, this is excellent. That afternoon, a light cross-shore comes in, but the morning is the pick.
Friday morning, the 10th, is also a gem. The wind drops to glass again, with a 5ft SW swell (13-second period). The wind is calm, and the wave energy is moderate (1045). This is a very good session for a learner or someone wanting a cruisy, clean wave.
Saturday morning, the 11th, sees some light cross-shore wind with a 4ft SW swell (14-second period). It's a bit better in the afternoon when it goes cross-offshore and clean. The energy is moderate (868-882). Good, but not the best.
Sunday morning, the 12th, is a bit average with a light cross-shore, but the afternoon turns glassy with a smaller 2ft SW swell. The energy drops to 401. It's surfable, but small.
Monday morning, the 13th, is glassy again with a 3ft SW swell (594 energy). A nice, clean, small wave. The afternoon gets a bit more interesting with a 5ft WSW swell (17-second period – that's a groundswell) and moderate energy (1711). The wind is a light cross-shore, so not perfect, but the long period will make for some nice, lined-up waves.
Now, here's a big one. Tuesday morning, the 14th of July. The wind is glassy, and we’ve got a 10ft WSW swell (14 seconds). The combined energy is very strong (3625). This is excellent for experienced surfers only. The afternoon is the same. If you've got the skill, this is the best session on offer.
Wednesday morning, the 15th, drops to 7ft (12 seconds) with a light cross-onshore—a bit messy. The afternoon is much better: glassy, with a 6ft WSW swell (11 seconds) and moderate energy (718). Very good.
From Thursday the 16th through to Sunday the 19th, the conditions get tricky. Thursday is onshore and poor. Then Friday the 17th brings a massive 15ft NW swell (10-second period) with a strong cross-shore wind. The combined energy is extremely strong (4494-5636). This is way too big for this beach break and is more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. Saturday morning is still big (12ft) and messy, but Saturday afternoon cleans up with a cross-offshore wind and an 12ft NNW swell (10 seconds). Excellent for experts, but still huge. Sunday returns to a smaller (5ft) SW swell with a cross-onshore wind.
The final week starts well. Monday morning, the 20th of July, is glassy with a 5ft NW swell (11 seconds, moderate energy of 888). This is a very good, clean session. The rest of the week settles into a pattern of small, clean, glassy conditions. Swells range from 3ft to 4ft, with periods around 10-12 seconds, and energy levels dropping from 338 down to 144. It's clean and surfable, but very ordinary. The last day, Friday the 24th, has a small 1ft swell in the morning, but the afternoon picks up to 4ft (12 seconds) with a glassy wind and moderate energy (541). A nice little finish.
So, the two standouts: Thursday morning, the 9th of July for the clean, solid beginner-to-intermediate waves, and Tuesday the 14th of July for the big, powerful, expert-only session.
Rusty.
