Table - best surf conditions forecast for Kandui Left over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get stuck into what’s coming our way for Kandui Left. We’ve got a solid period of swell on the cards, but not every session is going to be a classic.
The big story is a very strong, long-period SSW groundswell that arrives on Tuesday the 7th and peaks midweek. The combined energy is huge, hitting (1123) on the Tuesday and building to a massive (1493) by Wednesday morning. That’s a lot of water moving. The water temp is bang on average for this time of year at 86°F.
Now, Wednesday the 8th is the standout. Wednesday morning is where it’s at. We’re looking at a clean 6ft SSW swell with a 15-second period and glassy conditions with ESE light airs. That is a recipe for perfection at this reef. It’s got intermediate-level power, and the direction is spot on with the optimum. Expect some quality sets rolling through. That’s your best bet.
The rest of that first week gets a bit messy. The wind swings cross-shore and cross-on, putting a chop on the face. Thursday and Friday still have plenty of size—5ft to 6ft—and the energy is still high (over 1300), but that cross-breeze is going to make it less user-friendly. By Saturday the 11th, the swell drops back a touch to 5ft and the energy fades to (778). Still fun, but not the same quality.
There’s a dry spell of smaller, cleaner surf from Sunday the 12th through to Monday the 13th, with the swell dropping to 3ft – 5ft. The energy is moderate (under 1000), but the conditions clean up nicely, so you could still get some decent ones if you’re patient and pick your tides.
Looking further out into the second week, the swell hangs around but it’s a bit more inconsistent. Tuesday the 14th sees a very long period 18-second pulse, but it’s cross-shore and a bit choppy. The energy reads (1741), so the ocean has plenty of grunt, but the surface won't be as tidy.
From the 15th to the 18th, we get cleaner cross-off conditions with plenty of chest-high, clean surf. Not huge, but very user-friendly.
A couple of late highlights to keep an eye on. On Sunday the 19th, we get a glassy afternoon with the wind switching to WSW at 0 mph. That will be silky smooth for a 4ft SSW set. Then, Tuesday the 21st of July shapes up nicely with a glassy, calm morning and 5ft of SSW energy. That’s a promising session for experienced surfers if the long-range models hold.
Also, a heads-up: this isn’t one for the beginners when it’s over 5ft, and from Wednesday on, we’re right in that zone. It’s a reef, so respect the place.
Rusty out.
