Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the table for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, I'm staring at a flat spell. The entire 16-day window from August 13th right through to August 28th is a total write-off for surf. There is zero energy coming in. We're talking a combined energy of 0 every single session. The swell is a complete no-show, so don't bother getting the wetsuit wet.
For a spot like Hamilton, which is a beach and jetty setup exposed to the east-northeast, this kind of dead run isn't totally unheard of, but it's a tough pill to swallow. The water temp is sitting at about 71°, which is pretty normal for this time of year, so that's not the issue. We just need the ocean to wake up.
There are a few mornings with glassy conditions, like the 14th, 16th, and 18th, which would be perfect if there was a ripple to surf. Even some clean offshore breezes later on the 24th with a solid 16 mph offshore flow, but still, there's nothing to push you down the line.
If you're dead set on getting on the water, this flat spell might be better suited for a kite setup if you have one, because there's nothing here for a surfboard. Keep an eye on the charts, but for now, it's a long, dry spell.
