The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta level with you – the next sixteen days are looking pretty bleak for Antibes - Fort Carre. We’ve got a long stretch of flat or tiny, junky waves ahead, so don’t get too excited just yet.
The water is sitting at a very unusual 79° right now, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year. For the first week, forget about it. From the 13th through to the 24th, the charts show nothing but zeros and tiny slop, with cross-onshore or light winds keeping things messy. There’s a few glassy mornings on the 15th, 16th, 22nd, and 23rd, but with no swell to speak of, it’s just a flat, pretty lake. Honestly, it’s a real struggle.
Things get a little interesting right at the very end of the run. On Friday the 25th, we’ve got something showing up. The afternoon brings a glassy calm with a 5 ft swell from the east. The period is a short 6 seconds so it won’t be the prettiest, but with the wind dead calm, it’ll be the cleanest we’ve seen. The combined wave energy is strong at 373, and it’s looking like a glimmer of hope. Then on Sunday the 27th, we get another pulse – 5 ft from the south with a longer 11-second period, making it a proper groundswell. The combined energy hits a solid 574, which is strong. The catch? The wind swings onshore from the ESE at 9 mph, putting a chop on it. It’s a marginal, questionable window.
So, the only real standout here is that Friday the 25th afternoon session at Antibes - Fort Carre. It’s a reef break, inconsistent and rarely breaks, but if you’re keen, that’s your best shot. The swell will be coming from the east at about 5 ft. It’s not going to be epic, but with glassy conditions, it’ll be the cleanest surf we get in this whole dreary run. For the rest, it’s a long, flat wait.
Rusty.
