The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on offer for the Antibes area.

Honestly, for the next week and a half, it's a tough watch. The forecast is pretty much a write-off for most of the 16-day window. We're looking at a long, dry spell with nothing but tiny, weak waves and poor conditions. From Sunday the 16th right through to Tuesday the 25th of August, there's basically no surf worth paddling out for. The water is a toasty 84° which is way warmer than normal for this time of year, but that's about the only thing in your favour.

The only glimmer of hope, and it's a distant one, comes on the afternoon of Tuesday the 25th of August at Antibes - Fort Carre. We finally see a pulse of energy, with a 5ft swell from the SW, pushing a moderate combined energy of 188. The wind is set to be a fresh offshore from the WSW at 22 mph, which will clean it right up. But a word of caution: this is an inconsistent reef break, and a 5ft swell with a period of just 6 seconds isn't going to have much grunt behind it. The conditions are still labelled as poor, so don't get your hopes up too high. After that, Wednesday the 26th morning sees a smaller, cleaner 2ft SW swell with a 9-second period and a combined energy of 114, but it's still very ordinary.

So, the standout, if you can even call it that, is Tuesday afternoon the 25th. It's the only time the numbers even hint at something. For the rest of the run, you're better off finding something else to do. The forecast can always change, but this is a pretty bleak outlook for the region.

Rusty.
