Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what Bulli Beach has got cooking for us over the next couple of weeks. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel if you’re willing to wait.
Right now, we’re stuck in a flat spell. Monday the 6th kicks off with some tiny windswell and a stiff cross-onshore breeze, so don’t even bother paddling out—it’s just messy and useless. That flatness carries on into the early part of Tuesday the 7th, but things start to show a pulse by Tuesday morning. We see a south-east swell building to about 5ft with a moderate cross-shore wind. It’s not great, but it’s surfable if you’re desperate. The combined energy is moderate at 642, but the afternoon gets ugly—swell jumps to 12ft, period drops to 11 seconds, and that cross-onshore wind makes it a choppy, blown-out mess. That’s expert-only territory, and even then, not pretty.
Wednesday the 8th morning drops a bit to 8ft, period 10 seconds, still a cross-shore wind. Energy is strong at 2201, but the quality is poor. The afternoon cleans up a little but stays cross-onshore. Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th mornings are still cross-onshore and marginal, but by Friday afternoon, things finally start to turn. The wind goes glassy, the swell is a clean 5ft from the south-east with a 10-second period, and the energy is moderate (479). That’s a nice little window.
Saturday the 11th morning is the first real standout. The wind swings offshore from the north-west, light, and the swell holds at 4ft from the south-east, 9-second period. The break is fairly consistent and exposed, and with that offshore wind, it’ll be clean. Crowds can be a factor here though—Bulli Beach does get busy sometimes. Afternoon stays clean with a cross-off breeze. Sunday the 12th starts to fade, and by Monday the 13th, we’re back to tiny waves and strong winds. There’s a long gap of flat, poor conditions from the 12th through to the 17th—basically a whole week of nothing worth chasing.
Then, on Saturday the 18th of July, we get the true standout of the whole outlook. The morning brings a solid 7ft south-east swell with a long 11-second period, combined with a light offshore north-west wind. The energy is strong at 1027, the wind is clean, and the water temp is about average for this time of year. This is for experienced surfers—swell over 8ft, so it’s expert-only. The long period means the waves will have real shape and power, but at a beach break like Bulli, it might close out a bit. Afternoon stays clean but drops a notch. Sunday the 19th morning keeps the offshore flow with a smaller 4ft south-east swell, still clean and fun for most.
After that, the surf fades fast into the following week, with tiny windswell and strong offshore breezes. Nothing to get excited about.
Bottom line: Friday the 10th afternoon gives you a nice glassy session, but the real deal is Saturday the 18th morning—clean offshore winds, solid south-east groundswell, and enough power to get your heart pumping. Just be ready for the crowds.
Rusty.
