Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bulli Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s cooking at Bulli Beach.
First off, the water temp is about 65°F, which is just a touch warmer than usual for this time of year – nothing wild, just your average winter water.
The next week and a half is a bit of a bummer, to be honest. We’ve got a long stretch of poor surf from Saturday the 11th right through until the morning of Saturday the 18th. There’s just not enough energy or the right breeze to make it worthwhile. The wind is mostly cross-on or onshore, and the swell is either tiny or flat. It’s a tough run for a wave.
Now, the real standout is the Sunday the 19th. That’s where it all comes together. The morning is looking glassy with a light offshore from the NW at 3 mph, and we’ve got a solid 7ft E swell rolling in. The combined energy is a powerful 1040 (moderate wave energy), and the period is a nice 10 seconds. This is excellent surf for experienced surfers, and it’s a true highlight. The afternoon cleans up with a light cross-off breeze, and the swell ticks up to 8ft from the ENE.
Then, Monday the 20th morning is another belter – glassy conditions again with a 8ft ENE swell, a period of 12 seconds, and combined energy of 2044 (strong wave energy). That’s the pick of the entire forecast. The sets will be long and powerful, and with that size, it’s definitely for the crew who know what they’re doing. The afternoon gets a bit messy with a light cross-on wind, so get out early.
The quality drops off again after that. Tuesday the 21st and Wednesday the 22nd are ruined by strong cross-on winds, even though the swell holds around 8ft. It’ll be lumpy and choppy.
We do get a second window of cleaner surf towards the end of the run. Thursday the 23rd afternoon turns glassy again with a 5ft E swell and a very long 13-second period – that’s a proper groundswell. The combined energy is 794 (moderate wave energy). This will be better on a point or reef, as the long period can make beach breaks a bit straight.
Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th also look good with offshore winds and a clean 5ft to 6ft ESE swell. The energy is moderate (853) and the period is 11 seconds. This is definitely a solid option for the second week, but keep in mind the Saturday the 25th is a full week away, so treat it as a promising, but not locked-in, call.
If you’re a beginner, steer clear of the 19th through 21st – that’s well over 5ft and up to 8ft, which is expert territory. For the rest, it’s been a long wait, but the 19th and 20th mornings are the real standouts.
Rusty.
