The Lowdown
Alright mates, Rusty here again. The news isn’t flash for the Bulli stretch. We’re looking at heaps of days with bugger-all surf and only a couple of moments where it might be worth a look. The waiting game is on.
The first time you could even call it surfable is Monday the 25th of August, but it’s nothing to write home about. The whole run is fed by weak, short-period northeasterly windswell. The combined energy stays low most days, only getting into the low triple digits on the 25th (132) and 26th (231), but the quality is poor.
Monday the 25th of August morning: surfable waves, but very ordinary. Tuesday the 26th of August morning probably gives you the best chance with 1.3m of NE swell, period around 8 seconds, and combined energy of 231 – the biggest number of the whole outlook. Still, you've got cross-shore wind and light rain to deal with, so it’s more about making do. Wednesday the 27th of August morning turns glassy with light SSE wind and a tiny 0.9m NE swell, but the energy is low (86). Clean, but knee-high.
The best of a bad lot? Maybe Friday the 28th of August morning. Dead calm, glassy sea, 0.9m NE swell at 8 seconds, energy just hitting 100. It’s surfable, but very ordinary.
After that, it's a long, dry stretch. There's a blip on Saturday the 5th of September morning – 1.0m SSW windswell (104 energy) and clean offshore WNW wind, but it’s a short 6-second period. Not a standout.
For the rest of the second week, it’s tiny stuff with combined energy often under 50. By Monday the 7th of September afternoon you've got a 30 km/h WNW offshore blowing, but over a flat 0.1m swell at 14 seconds (energy of 4). Absolutely nothing.
No standout sessions here, folks. Bulli Beach (South Coast) is in a proper flat spell. Water temp is around 66°F, pretty normal for this time of year.
Rusty.
