Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming up for Bulli Beach.
Honestly, the next couple of weeks are pretty lean. We’ve got a long dry spell to start, with almost nothing rideable for the first several days. The only real window of interest is a short one around the 11th and 12th, and even then it’s small. Let’s break it down.
From Monday the 6th right through to the end of Friday the 10th, it’s a write-off. Light rain, onshore winds, and poor surf conditions dominate. Swell is either tiny or messy, and the wave energy is weak to moderate at best, with combined energy readings bouncing between 0 and 775. On Thursday the 9th there’s a little bump to 2.0m from the SE, but it’s cross-onshore and choppy – not worth paddling out.
Saturday the 11th is where things get a tiny bit interesting. Early morning we get a clear sky, light NNW offshore wind at 3 mph, and a small 0.6m swell from the ESE with a long 13-second period. That long period gives the waves some shape, but at this size it’s really just ankle‑to‑knee high. Combined energy is only 191 – weak. Still, offshore and clean means if you’re desperate for a glide, you might find something. The afternoon sees a little more size at 0.9m, still clean with a cross‑off breeze. But it’s marginal.
Sunday the 12th morning repeats the formula: 0.9m ESE swell, 10-second period, moderate offshore from the WNW at 12 mph, clean conditions. But again, tiny. Afternoon drops off further.
From Monday the 13th onward it’s back to near flat or tiny wind swell with almost no energy, and despite clean conditions at times, there just isn’t enough wave to ride. A brief pulse shows up on Saturday the 19th morning with 0.9m SE swell and a light offshore, but it’s weak (118 energy) and short‑period (8 seconds). Nothing to get excited about.
The standout moment across the whole outlook is the early morning of Saturday the 11th. It’s not big, but with glassy offshore wind and a clean surface, you could snag a few little runners if you’re on a log or a fish. Just don’t expect power.
Bulli Beach is a beach and reef setup, exposed to swells from the NE – our swell is coming from the ESE and SE, so it’s not quite hitting the optimum angle. The water temperature is 66°, about a degree and a half warmer than average for July, so it’s pleasant enough.
Bottom line: there are no real standouts. The best you’ll get is Saturday morning the 11th with 0.6m, clean, and offshore wind. The rest is mostly flat or poor. A long gap of nearly a week from the 6th to the 10th with nothing, then a couple of slim chances, then another flat spell. If you’re a beginner, most days are too small or too messy anyway. For experts, there’s nothing over 1.5m except Thursday afternoon the 7th when it hit 3.5m – but that was cross‑onshore and choppy, total mess, more of a kite‑surfing setup than paddle surfing.
Stay patient, mates. It’ll turn around eventually.
