Table - best surf conditions forecast for Bar Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty, and I’m looking at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks. Let’s get into it.
Alright, we’ve got a bit of a mixed bag coming up at Bar Beach, but the first few days are actually looking pretty good. The water temp is sitting at 66°, which is about average for this time of year, so no shocks there.
The real action kicks off on Thursday morning, July 9th. We’re looking at a clean 7 ft swell from the SE, with a 10-second period. The wind is light and cross-off from the WSW, which is a blessing. The combined energy is solid at 862. It’s going to be proper surfable, and with the high tide, there’ll be some good shape. It’s a beginner-friendly break, but it’s a spot that can get crowded often, so get in early.
The next morning, Friday July 10th, is another solid option. The swell drops a touch to 6 ft from the SE, but the wind is off-shore from the W and light. The water will be clean. The energy is still moderate at 527. It’s a good, consistent run.
Saturday morning, July 11th, brings a smaller, cleaner morning. Swell is down to 3 ft from the ESE, but the period stretches to 12 seconds, giving it a bit more push. The wind is off-shore from the NW. The energy is 419. It’s a good morning for a longboard or a fun shape.
After that, the weekend runs out of puff. Sunday and Monday are tiny, with weak energy, and then Tuesday is essentially flat. The week from the 13th is a write-off.
Now, hold on, because the second week picks up in a big way, but it’s not for the faint-hearted. On Thursday, July 16th, a massive swell hits. We’re looking at 16 ft to 18 ft from the SSE, with a 10-11 second period. The energy numbers are huge – up to 7,634. But the wind is howling on-shore from the SE at 25 mph. This is going to be a giant, messy, dangerous beast. It’s only for absolute experts, and even then, it’s going to be a battle. This is more of a kite-surfing setup than a paddle-surfing one.
The standout, the real gem, is the last day. On Friday, July 24th, the swell is still a solid 7 ft from the ESE with a 10-second period, but the wind switches to a clean off-shore from the NW at 9 mph. The energy is still strong at 1,088. The conditions are described as excellent for experienced surfers. This is the one to circle on the calendar. It’s a long way out, so it’s a promising call, but it looks like the best wave of the whole run.
So, to sum it up: the first few days are a solid, clean window. The middle of the period is a flat, dead zone. Then a huge, messy swell hits, and the final Friday is the real prize. Keep your eyes on the 24th.
Rusty.
