Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's coming down the pipeline.
Right off the bat, we've got some significant energy hitting Bar Beach, but the conditions are going to be a battle for the first few days. On Tuesday, July 7th, we're looking at a solid 12 ft SSE swell, but that's wrapped in a moderate breeze creating a cross-chop, and the combined energy is 4728. On top of that, the water temp is 66°, which is just about average for this time of year. It's a messy start.
The wind stays onshore through Wednesday the 8th and into Thursday the 9th, keeping things choppy and lumpy. The swell drops from 10 ft to 6 ft, but even with lighter winds on Thursday, it's still cross-shore, so the quality is going to be ordinary.
Friday, July 10th is where things get interesting. For the morning, we've got a clean 5 ft SE swell (combined energy 481) with a light WSW cross-offshore breeze. This is your first proper look at a clean wave, though the energy is moderate.
The real standout window starts on Saturday, July 11th. The morning is firing with a 4 ft SE swell and a 15 km/h NW offshore wind, giving us clean lines. The offshore holds through the afternoon with the same 4 ft swell. Combined energy is 402 and 334. This is a very good, clean day for a beach break. The crowds can be a factor here though, as they are often present.
After that, we hit a flat spell. Sunday the 12th sees the swell drop to 2 ft, and by Monday the 13th we're down to 2 ft. There's nothing worth paddling out for for several days. The energy is low, with values in the 50s and 60s.
We get a little pulse on Wednesday the 15th, with a glassy afternoon and a 3 ft S swell – it's surfable, but it ain't gonna set the world on fire.
Next up, Thursday, July 16th brings a powerful groundswell. A 7 ft S swell with a very long 15-second period is heading our way, and the combined energy jumps to 2265. The morning is cross-shore with a moderate chop, so it's not perfect, but that's a serious wall of water. This is one for experienced surfers only, as 7 ft is well into expert territory, especially with that long period. This kind of groundswell can break a bit straight on a beach, but the power is undeniable. The afternoon gets wrecked by a fresh onshore, so the morning is the only look.
Friday the 17th is smaller and still onshore, so we skip that. Then Saturday, July 18th comes back clean. A 4 ft SSE swell with a 15 km/h NW offshore wind, combined energy of 234, and that clean offshore breeze. It's a good, solid day for a paddle.
The run ends with a few more small, clean days into the following week, but nothing that will get your heart racing like that Saturday the 11th or the big Thursday the 16th.
So, to wrap it up: Saturday, July 11th is your best bet for a clean, fun session without a massive crowd-fight. The standout for pure size and power is Thursday, July 16th (morning only), but that's for the experienced crew. Keep an eye on Saturday the 18th as a solid follow-up.
Rusty.
