Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Hey, Rusty here. Let's talk about the stretch ahead. The water temp's about 63°, which is right where it should be for the season.
First real chance to paddle out is Friday, July 10, in the morning at Bar Beach. This spot is good for beginners, exposed to swell, and the swell's coming from the southeast, which is the sweet spot. You've got a 6ft swell from the southeast, 10-second period, and a light cross-offshore breeze from the WSW at 9 mph, keeping it clean. The wave energy is 597, so it's got a bit of push. Crowds are often around, so expect some company.
The second week picks up on Monday, July 14, in the morning. A 4ft south swell, 10 seconds, with an offshore wind from the WNW at 12 mph giving you clean lines. Energy is down at 271, but it's workable. Then Tuesday afternoon, July 14, is a beauty—the wind goes glassy from the WNW at just 3 mph, with a 4ft south swell at 9 seconds. It's small, but that glass is a gift.
The big one is Friday, July 17, in the morning. A massive 16ft swell from the south, 14-second period—that's proper groundswell—with a combined energy of 15399. That's expert-only territory. Wind is onshore from the southeast at 16 mph, so it's not going to be perfect, but the power is unreal. The swell direction isn't dead-on the optimum, but for those who can handle it, it's the standout. The afternoon drops to 13ft, still heavy.
After that, July 18 brings a 7ft southeast swell, and by July 19, clean offshore winds and 4ft waves make for a fun finish. There's a quiet patch in the middle, but plenty of action if you pick your moments.
Rusty.
