Table - best surf conditions forecast for Thirroul over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s coming for Thirroul.
Right now, it’s flat as a pancake. The first few days are a total bust, nothing worth paddling for. There’s a gap all the way up to Wednesday, July 15th, when we finally get a little bump.
On that Wednesday morning, the 15th, a 1.6m south swell shows up with a short 10-second period. The wind is light and cross-shore, and the combined energy is 490. It’s marginal – you might find a wave, but it’s not going to be pretty.
Thursday the 16th pushes up to 1.7m from the south, with a moderate cross-shore wind that chops things up. The energy is 733 – plenty of push – but it’s messy. This is for experienced surfers only at that size, and even then, it won’t be clean.
The real standout is Monday, July 20th. That morning you’ve got a clean 1.0m east-northeast swell with light offshore wind and nice shape. Combined energy is 223 – moderate but good quality. Crowds are possible at Thirroul, but this is your best shot at a clean, fun session.
Then look at Sunday, July 26th. The morning serves up 1.7m from the south, clean with light offshore wind, energy at 262. By the afternoon, it’s a solid 2.0m, still clean with offshore wind, and energy jumps to 435. That short 7-second period will make it a bit fat, but if you’re experienced and want some size, that afternoon is your go.
Water temp is 18°, which is right about average for the season – no need for anything too heavy.
The second week is quieter overall, with the 26th being the clear winner. The 27th and 28th still have size, around 1.7m to 1.9m, but conditions are mixed and not as clean.
So, to sum it up: the first week is mostly flat or choppy. Circle Monday the 20th and Sunday the 26th of July. Those are your best bets.
Rusty.
