Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Harbour over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty again, switching gears to the old-school numbers.
We’re looking at a pretty lean stretch ahead, and I gotta be honest, there’s a lot of flat days and small, choppy junk to sift through. The first few days are a no-go. Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th are utterly forgettable with tiny 0.7ft swell and, on Wednesday, a bit of glass early before the wind picks up. Not worth wetting a suit.
We roll into the weekend, and it’s still pretty grim. Friday the 10th is flat calm, glassy but flat. Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th stay small, 1ft to 2ft from the northeast with onshore or cross-onshore wind that’s going to mess up what little there is. That early morning glass on Friday is the only tease, but with zero swell, it’s just a pretty lake.
We start to see a bump of energy around Monday the 13th. Swell jumps to 3ft from the northeast, and the combined energy hits 114 (moderate), but it’s still a cross-onshore wind making it choppy. It’s surfable but far from clean. The waves are short period (7 seconds), so they’ll be soft and fat.
The real standout window, and I mean the only one that has my attention, is the morning of Friday the 17th. The Harbour sees a 4ft northeast swell with an 8-second period, and the combined energy is strong at 300. That’s the biggest energy spike of the whole run. Unfortunately, it’s still blowing cross-onshore from the NNW at 16 mph, which will keep it lumpy and messy. It’s going to be a bit of a battle, but there’ll be some grunt behind it for the patient surfer looking for a punchy beach break. It’s still only for intermediate crew and up at that size.
The period between the 18th and the 20th drops back into the weeny stuff, and we don’t get another real chance until the 21st, where a 2ft easterly swell with a 9-second period shows up. The energy is back up to 102 (moderate), but again, wind is cross or cross-on. By Wednesday the 22nd, we finally get a moment of clarity: a glassy morning with 2ft of east swell. That’s the cleanest session of the whole outlook. A little small, but if you’re desperate for a uncrowded, silky-smooth ride, that’s your go. Crowds here can be a thing at times, but on a 2ft Wednesday, you might get a few sets to yourself.
This run just never gets great, mates. No big groundswell, no long-range perfection. Just one or two windows where the energy and conditions line up for a session that won’t make you cry. That Friday 17th morning is your best shot for a strong wave, but expect to earn it. Wednesday 22nd morning will be the cleanest, but small.
Water temp is sitting at 54°F, about average for mid-July around here. No major surprises there.
