Alright, this is Rusty. Let’s get into it.
Look, I’m gonna be straight with you – for The Harbour, we’ve got a proper dry spell on our hands for the next couple of weeks. There’s just nothing happening for a long stretch, and it’s a bit of a bummer. The wind is all over the place, mostly cross or onshore, and the swell is either non-existent or just a sad little bump with hardly any energy behind it. We’re talking a lot of days where the combined energy barely hits double digits. It’s going to be a grind.
We do see a flicker of life on Friday the 17th of July, with the afternoon showing a possible 5ft swell from the NE with a period of 7 seconds. The combined energy jumps to 204 (moderate). But it’s labelled as marginal due to tide or conditions. Still, it’s the first time the energy is actually there. The cross-off wind from the SSE would be clean, which is a positive.
The real standout, however, is the morning session on Monday the 20th of July. This is the one to circle. We’ve got a 5ft NE swell (with a period of 8 seconds) and a solid 260 combined energy (moderate). The wind is swinging offshore from the WSW. That means clean, lined-up waves. The afternoon stays clean too with offshore wind, even if the swell drops slightly to 4ft. For a beach/groyne setup like The Harbour, offshore wind is a major win. This is the best on offer in the entire outlook. It’s a long way off though, so keep your fingers crossed.
Don’t get too excited about the smaller stuff before then – the wind is mostly messy, and the swell is weak. The 20th is the only day that’s really worth planning for.
