Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Harbour over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty, and I've got the outlook for The Harbour. Let's be straight with you, it's not looking great. We've got a 16-day window here, but honestly, the surf is pretty much missing in action for the first week and a half. We're looking at a long stretch of flat or near-flat conditions before anything with a bit of punch shows up.
The first solid recommendation doesn't appear until Monday, July 20th, so we have a long gap of tiny waves before that. The water temp is sitting at about 56°F, which is pretty average for this time of year.
Alright, let's get into what little we have.
Saturday, July 11th through Sunday, July 19th is a write-off. We're dealing with waves under 3ft for days on end, mostly from the NE with terrible, short-period energy. The combined energy readings are pitiful, often under 100, just squeaking up to 276 on the 19th but with fresh cross-onshore winds making a mess of it. Not worth paddling out.
The only real window where things might get interesting is Monday, July 20th. We've got a pulse of swell arriving in the morning, pushing about 7ft from the NE with a period of 10 seconds. The combined energy jumps to 815, which is moderate and the best we'll see. The wind is a light cross-onshore from the NNW, not perfect, but manageable. This is marginal at best though. It's still the standout of the whole period, mainly because everything else is so poor. This size might be a bit much for the groms and beginners.
After that pulse, it fades fast. Tuesday the 21st drops back to about 4ft, and we're back to tiny, weak slop through the rest of the week and into the next. The wind does go offshore from the SW on the 23rd, but with only 0.3ft of swell, it's flat.
So, to be honest, there are no good options here. The Harbour is a beach and groyne setup, and with these small, onshore-affected swells, it's just not offering anything. If you're desperate for a wave on the 20th, you might find something, but keep your expectations low. It's one of those stretches where you're better off checking the forecast again in a few days.
Rusty, signing off.
