Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Harbour over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s talk about The Harbour. It’s a beach/groyne spot, and for the first week or so, it’s pretty much flat or blown out. The water’s a touch warmer than usual, 57°F to start, just a bit above average.
The first few days are a bust. Through the 12th to the 17th, you’re looking at tiny swell, 0.7ft to 3ft, with onshore or cross-onshore winds. The wave energy is weak – under 100. Those are just wind ripples, not worth getting wet for.
The first real pulse comes on Saturday the 18th. A northeast swell brings 3ft to 4ft, but the energy is only moderate (63 to 99), and the wind is a fresh cross-onshore, so it’s lumpy. Not great.
The standout is Sunday the 26th. A southeast swell builds to 6ft in the morning, combined energy up to 237 (moderate). The wind is a fresh cross-offshore, which should clean things up nicely. That’s the best shot. It’s a bit big for beginners, but solid for intermediates. The period is short at 6 seconds, so it’s wind swell, not a groundswell, so expect choppy, less-shaped waves. The afternoon gets bigger at 7ft, energy 337, but the wind goes cross-shore and creates a lumpy cross-chop. So the morning of the 26th is the window. Monday the 27th drops to 4ft and the wind goes cross again, not as good.
After that, it’s a few days of clean but tiny or no surf. The 26th is the only real bright spot in the whole 16 days – the rest is mostly poor, small, or blown out. If you’re going, hit the 26th early.
Rusty.
