Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tarnos - La Digue over the next 16 days.
Alright, mate, Rusty here. Let’s get into it for the Tarnos stretch.
We’re looking at a pretty grim opening for this 16-day window, with a whole lot of flatness and ordinary conditions. The water is sitting at 75.6°, which is a massive 6.8° warmer than usual for this time of year – that’s a very unusual anomaly, the sea feels like a bath. The first glimmer of anything decent isn’t until Monday the 20th, so we’ve got a dry spell of about a week where you’re better off leaving the board in the car.
The standout window is that Monday morning, the 20th of July. Tarnos - La Digue (beach/jetty) will finally see a pulse of swell, with waves around 4.6ft from the WNW. The combined energy is moderate (227), and the real kicker is the clean, cross-off wind from the ENE. That’s a rare treat for this spot and will make for some tidy, workable lines. It’s a fairly consistent break, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long between sets, but expect crowds to be possible.
Other than that, the following week offers a couple of glimpses. The morning of the 26th (Sunday) has a bigger, more powerful swell of 5.2ft from the NW, with a combined energy of 520 (moderate-to-strong) and a clean offshore breeze from the E. That’s promising for more experienced surfers, though it’s far out, so treat it as a hopeful heads-up. The 5.2ft is a bit much for beginners, but for the rest of you, it could be the best wave of the outlook if it holds.
The rest of the days are mostly a write-off: small, weak, onshore chop, or just plain flat. The 25th shows a 7.2ft NW swell, but with onshore winds and a moderate breeze, it’s going to be a messy, churned-up mess – more of a kite session than a paddle.
So, the short story: hold out for the 20th, and keep an eye on the 26th. That’s your lot.
Short Range ForecastMostly dry. Warm (max 34°C on Sun afternoon, min 19°C on Mon night). Winds decreasing (fresh winds from the W on Sun night, calm by Mon morning). | Days 5-7 Weather SummaryMostly dry. Warm (max 23°C on Tue afternoon, min 20°C on Wed night).
