Ah, well, I ain't gonna sugarcoat it for ya. The next sixteen days look pretty grim here in Sheboygan. We’ve got a run of “poor surf conditions” stretching from August 19th all the way through to September 3rd, with zero swell energy. That’s a solid two weeks and change of flat, wind-affected slop. The lake is just sittin’ there, glassy at times, but with nothing to show for it. The water’s sittin’ at 72°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, but that’s about the only thing that’s not disappointing.
The whole 16-day window is a blank. There’s simply no surf to speak of. The forecast shows zero swell height, zero combined energy, and wind direction’s all over the place—cross, cross-on, onshore—none of it matters when there’s no wave. The only real highlight is a few moments of clean, glassy conditions, like on the afternoon of August 28th when the wind drops to glass, but with no swell, it’s just a mirror. You’d be better off takin’ up kite surfing if you’re desperate for a thrill, because paddle surfing’s a no-go.
For this area, a blank run like this ain’t unheard of, but it stings. Forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothin’ to get excited about. Hang tight, or find another hobby for a couple weeks.
