Table - best surf conditions forecast for Scarborough South Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what’s shaping up for our local stretch over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s a tough outlook. We’re staring at a long, flat spell. There’s no worthwhile surf on the cards for days. The first real chance of anything rideable doesn’t show up until Friday the 17th of July, and even then, it’s a bit of a messy proposition.
For Scarborough South Bay, the wait is on. The swell energy is weak, with readings mostly in the single digits or low twenties (22 energy) – that’s barely a ripple. Wednesday the 8th through to Thursday the 16th is a write-off. Tiny 1-foot waves with poor conditions from onshore or cross-onshore breezes.
We finally see a pulse of energy on Friday morning the 17th, with the swell building to 5 ft from the NNE. The combined energy jumps to 237 (moderate wave energy). This is the best of a poor bunch. However, the period is a short 7 seconds, so it won’t be holding together well. The cross-shore wind (12 mph from the NNW) will leave a bit of chop on the surface, so it’s not going to be a clean classic session.
Saturday morning the 18th offers a slight reprieve with a clean window. Swell drops to 3.5 ft from the NNE with a 7-second period, and the wind goes cross-offshore from the WNW at 9 mph (105 energy). That’s your best chance for a tidy little wave, but it’s still small and not packing much punch.
After that, it fades right back out into flatness through the rest of the period. There’s a little bump on the 22nd of July (1 ft and glassy on the Wednesday afternoon), but again, that’s barely a knee-high dribble. Look, if you can wait, Saturday morning the 18th is the only time worth paddling out. It won’t be epic, but it’s the cleanest we’re going to get.
Short Range ForecastMostly dry. Warm (max 22°C on Thu morning, min 17°C on Tue night). Wind will be generally light. | Days 4-6 Weather SummaryMostly dry. Very mild (max 18°C on Fri night, min 12°C on Sat night). Wind will be generally light. | ||||||||||||||||||||
