Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer down at Patrick Air Force Base.

Honestly, it’s a pretty quiet stretch coming up. We’ve got a long gap of small, messy conditions before anything even remotely worth a paddle shows up. The water temp is sitting at 84°F, which is pretty much exactly where it should be for this time of year, so no surprises there.

The first real chance to get wet doesn’t arrive until Monday afternoon, the 3rd of August. We’ll see a tiny 3 ft swell from the ESE, with a period of 8 seconds. The combined energy is weak at 110. The wind is glassy though, straight from the SE at 3 mph, so the surface will be smooth. It’s surfable, but very ordinary. Not a standout.

Tuesday morning the 4th brings a drop to 2 ft from the East, but the wind swings SSW offshore at 6 mph, making it clean. The swell is tiny though, and the period drops to 8 seconds. The afternoon turns cross-offshore, but still small. Not worth rushing out for.

The rest of the first week and into the second is a long run of tiny surf and onshore or cross-shore winds. Swells hover around 1 ft to 2 ft, periods are short, and the energy is weak—mostly in the teens to low 30s. The wind is often cross-on or choppy. It’s a real struggle.

There’s a slight bump on Friday the 7th afternoon, with the swell pushing up to 4 ft from the East, period 7 seconds, and the energy jumps to 277 (moderate). But the wind is onshore from the ENE at 6 mph, which kills the quality. The raw data says poor surf conditions. Not worth it.

Saturday morning the 8th offers a little hope. The swell is 3 ft from the East, period 8 seconds, energy at 138. The wind is cross-offshore from the SSE at 9 mph, so it’s clean. It’s still only a 1/10 score though—surfable but very ordinary. It’s the best of a bad lot, but that’s not saying much.

After that, we’re back into a long stretch of tiny, weak swells with cross-shore winds. From the 9th all the way through the 18th of August, the swell rarely breaks 2 ft, periods are mostly 6-9 seconds, and the energy is in the doldrums (10-52). The wind is often cross or cross-on, keeping it choppy. There are a few glassy or offshore moments, like the 15th morning with 0.7 ft and glassy conditions, but there’s no wave to ride.

The best on offer? Honestly, there’s no true standout. If you’re desperate for a paddle, the Saturday morning of the 8th is your best bet—clean, a little bit of energy, and a 3 ft east swell. It’s a beginner-friendly sandbar, but it’s exposed and often crowded, so expect company. The swell direction is from the E, which is close to the optimum NE, but not quite. For everyone else, it’s a week of flat spells and onshore slop.

This is a patch where the surf just isn’t showing up. It’s a blank run, but it’s not unusual for the area. Forecasts can change, so keep an eye on it.
