Table - best surf conditions forecast for Morro Negrito over the next 16 days.
Alright, let's get into it, folks. Rusty here.
Right off the bat, this is a run of small but clean surf at Morro Negrito. It’s a reef and point setup that’s exposed to the SW swell, and the optimum direction is a solid match with what’s coming in. The water is sitting at 87°F, which is a massive 4°F warmer than what we'd usually see this time of year. That's incredibly unusual, so you’ll be surfing in a warm bath.
The opening session on Friday morning, July 10th is about as mellow as it gets. We’re looking at 2ft of SSW groundswell with a period of 15 seconds. That long period is typical for a point break like this, and with glassy conditions and no wind, it’s going to be clean as a whistle. The combined energy is a weak 159, so the power is pretty low. It’s not big, but for a longboard or a funboard, it’ll be a nice little glide.
Saturday, July 11th through Sunday, July 12th mornings are your real standouts here. The swell holds steady at 2ft, coming from the SSW with periods between 14 and 16 seconds. The wind drops off to a glassy state, and the energy picks up just a tick. The waves are small, but these sessions are marked as "expect good surf conditions," and that's because you’ve got that long-period groundswell wrapping into a point. It’s beginner-friendly at this size, but an absolute dream for anyone on a log. Expect a few other folks out as crowds are listed as "sometimes", but it won't be a zoo.
Now, the forecast runs all the way out to July 25th, but there's a big dry spell in the middle. After those first few solid mornings, the size drops to 1ft to 2ft and hangs there for about a week. The wind stays glassy most mornings, so it’s still surfable, but you’ll be scratching for anything with push. Afternoon storms and onshore wind will junk it up anyway.
The pulse returns on Saturday morning, July 25th, with a tiny 1ft swell but a very long 22-second period. By the afternoon, that swell bumps to 1ft with a 21-second period, and the energy jumps to 236. It’s a long-range promise, so treat it with a pinch of salt, but if it fills in, that long period groundswell on a point break like this could produce some surprisingly clean, roly-poly lines. It’s still small, but the quality is there.
For the rest of the time? It's flat or close to it. Not much you can do. The waves are too small for anyone but the lightest foamie or a SUP. Kite surfers and windsurfers might get a look on the windier afternoons, but for a paddle surfer, it’s mostly a time to wax your board and wait.
Rusty, signing out.
