Table - best surf conditions forecast for Morro Negrito over the next 16 days.
Alright, surfers, Rusty here. We’re looking at a solid little run at Morro Negrito over the next couple of weeks. This is a reef-and-point setup that loves a south-west swell, and sure enough, we’ve got a consistent stream of small, long-period groundswell rolling in from the SSW most days. The water is running at 86.5° – that’s a solid 3.6° above average for this time of year, so you can leave the thick rubber at home. The best of it comes early, then it slowly fades.
Wednesday 8 July morning is the clear standout. Glassy conditions – not a breath of wind – 3ft of SSW swell with a lovely 16-second period (that’s proper groundswell energy, 412 units of it). For a point and reef break like this, that combo is money. Expect clean, lined-up waves; it’s an advanced spot though, so know your limits. Crowds can show up sometimes, but with conditions this good you’ll want to be early.
Thursday 9 July morning is still very good – glassy again, 2.6ft from the SSW, 15-second period, energy at 284. Slightly smaller but still nice. Friday 10 July morning drops to 2ft, but again glassy with that long period. Saturday 11 July morning bounces back a little to 2.3ft, glass, 16 seconds – worth a paddle if you missed the earlier days. After that, the swell slowly eases through the second week. Mornings on Sunday 12, Monday 13, Tuesday 14, etc., are mostly glassy and surfable but the size drops to 1.6-1.3ft and the period shortens a bit – still fun on a log or a fish if you’re patient. The afternoons are often ruined by thunderstorms and onshore wind, so stick to the early sessions.
Overall, the first few days are your best bet, especially that Wednesday morning. After that, it’s mellow but clean – not a complete write-off. No big bombs, but if you’re after clean, small-wave point surfing, you’ve got it.
