Table - best surf conditions forecast for Morro Negrito over the next 16 days.
Hey, Rusty here. Let’s be real – this is a quiet spell for Morro Negrito. We’re looking at a long stretch of tiny, underpowered surf. The biggest thing to know is there’s a long lull coming, so manage your expectations.
First chance to get wet is Sunday arvo, July 12th. A 2ft SSW swell with moderate energy (168) and glassy wind. It’s rideable, but nothing special. The water is a very warm 87°F, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year.
From there it’s a rinse and repeat. Monday July 13th and Tuesday July 14th offer 2ft to 2ft SSW swells with glassy mornings, but the energy is dropping from 166 down to 132. By Tuesday afternoon the wind shifts onshore and messes it up.
Wednesday July 15th morning is glassy with a 2ft SSW swell (125), but it’s weak. Afternoon gets blown out.
This same pattern holds all the way to the morning of Monday July 27th. Two weeks of mostly 2ft swell, with every afternoon session getting chopped up by onshore wind. Crowds are "sometimes" here, and with waves this small, you’ll mostly have it to yourself.
The one bright spot is Sunday July 26th morning. That’s a week and a half out, so keep it on the radar but don't bank on it. It’s a 2ft SW groundswell with a very long period of 19 seconds. Those long-period swells have good shape but can close out fast at beach breaks. The cross-off wind from the ESE will keep the surface clean. That’s your best clean session.
The absolute pick of the outlook is Monday July 27th morning. This is a long-range call, so it’s promising but not locked in. Calm, glassy wind, a 2ft SW groundswell at a very long 17 seconds, and the combined swell energy jumps to 204 – the highest we see here. The dead calm wind means the face will be perfect. Still tiny, so good for all levels, but that long period might make the sets a bit inconsistent.
Honestly, the whole run is so small that even the best days are just 'average'. There's no big swell to get excited about. If you’re a beginner, it’s safe. For the advanced crew looking to make the most of the reef and point, this is a waiting game.
Rusty.
