Table - best surf conditions forecast for Playa Santa Catalina over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
We’ve only got one spot firing this period – Playa Santa Catalina. It’s a point break, very consistent and exposed to the SSW swell. The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing wild there. The real story is a long, slow-burn run of small but clean surf, with one standout morning that's proper glassy.
The pattern kicks off on Friday the 10th with clean 3ft SSW groundswell (406 combined energy). It’s small but the cross-off wind is fine. Saturday the 11th is the real pick of the first week – the morning is glassy with a 3ft SSW swell, period bumping up to 16 seconds giving it some push (517 combined energy). That’s the session to circle: clean lines, light air, just you and the ocean. The afternoons tend to get a bit of onshore crumble, so stick to the early.
Sunday the 12th hangs in there with a 3ft swell and offshore N wind in the morning – clean again, but that 14-second period means you'll be waiting a bit for the sets. Monday and Tuesday mornings stay clean with the same ENE/NE cross-off flow, and the swell holds around 3-3ft. Wednesday the 15th morning is another glassy gem, but even smaller at 3ft.
This pattern keeps rolling through the second week. Thursday the 16th through to Saturday the 18th all have clean morning windows with the swell sitting around 3-4ft, and the wind staying light and favourable. A few afternoons get messy, but the morning shift is worth it. Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th are the same story – clean mornings, smaller afternoon chop.
Looking further out, Tuesday the 21st morning is glassy again with a longer 16-second period, but the swell drops to just 2ft. That’s a high-performance, low-energy kind of morning. Wednesday the 22nd picks back up to 4ft, cross-off wind, clean.
For the last few days – Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th – the mornings stay clean with light winds. The swell is around 3-3ft, and that 12-second period is a bit more user-friendly for the beach break section.
No huge standout of epic proportions here, but Saturday morning the 11th is the best on offer – glassy, 3ft SSW, and that 16-second groundswell will wrap nicely around the point. Crowds are sometimes an issue here, but early you’ll be golden.
Rusty.
