Table - best surf conditions forecast for Playa Santa Catalina over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's get into it.
Alright, folks, looking at this stretch from July 9th out to the 24th, we've got a pretty steady run of small, clean surf on the cards at Playa Santa Catalina. This is a point break that loves a good south-southwest swell, and that's exactly what's lining up. The water temp is sitting pretty average for this time of year, so no need to worry about any crazy warm or cold anomalies.
There are no days that scream absolute epic, but there's a consistent rhythm of clean mornings through the first week. Let's talk about what's shaping up.
Thursday the 9th kicks things off with a 3ft SSW groundswell, period at a nice 15 seconds. That long period gives the waves real shape and push, but the morning has a cross-off wind, which should keep things tidy. The wave energy is moderate, sitting at 485 (moderate wave energy).
Now, Friday the 10th through Sunday the 12th is where we see the real pick of the first week. Friday morning is looking glassy with a 3ft SSW swell and a 15 second period. The wind is dead calm, glassy – that's a major positive. You'll be surfing by yourself with clean lines. Saturday morning is the true standout, though. We're looking at a 3ft SSW groundswell, 16 second period, and it's glassy again. The combined energy is a solid 527 (moderate wave energy), and the forecast is very good. This is the best session of the whole outlook. Sunday morning holds up well too, with a clean 3ft SSW swell and offshore wind from the NNE, making those waves stand up nicely.
After that, from Monday the 13th through to the end of the second week, it stays consistent but small. Most mornings offer clean, cross-off breeze with waist-to-chest high waves around 3ft to 3ft. The afternoons are a bit more of a mixed bag, often getting onshore or cross-on winds that mess with the shape. You'll want to be an early bird here.
A couple of late-period sessions to note: Sunday the 19th has a glassy afternoon with a 3ft SSW swell and zero wind from the SE. It's clean as a whistle, but small. And then Friday the 24th – the final day in the window – has a glassy morning with the strongest swell of the whole run at 4ft from the SSW. The period drops to 11 seconds, but still a decent groundswell, and the wave energy is 332 (moderate). Could be a nice little finish if you're patient.
Overall, it's a long run of clean, manageable waves. Nothing for the big-wave chargers, but plenty of fun, user-friendly lines for everyone else. The one true standout is Saturday morning, July 11th – that's your best bet for a classic, glassy, long-period point session.
Rusty.
