Table - best surf conditions forecast for Middles/Generals over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break down the picture for Middles/Generals over the next couple of weeks. To be straight with you, it’s a tough stretch for surfing. The whole 16-day window is filled with messy, wind-affected conditions, and there’s no real standout session.
The main problem is a persistent cross-shore wind from the ENE that’s blowing 20-25 mph most days, making the surface lumpy and choppy. The swell is mostly short-period windswell (7-8 seconds), which doesn’t have the power or shape for a good wave. The combined wave energy (672) on the first Monday is moderate, but with that wind, it’s all for nothing.
There is a long-period pulse (16 seconds) on Thursday, July 16th, but it’s tiny at 2 feet, and the wind is still blowing cross-onshore. More energy (1038) shows up on Sunday, July 26th, with a 15-second period, but again, it’s only 3 feet and the wind is fresh.
The first almost-rideable conditions come at the very end. On Friday, July 24th, the morning shows a 6-foot swell from the ENE with a combined energy of 707, and it’s only a “marginal” score. The wind is a moderate cross-shore at 15 mph, which is the cleanest it gets. Saturday, July 25th, is similar – 6 feet, 565 energy, moderate cross-shore wind. These are the best on offer, and they’re not great. The swell is still short-period and the wind is not offshore. For a beginner, 6 feet might be too much.
This is a long blank run. If you’re desperate, the mornings of July 24th and 25th are the least bad, but don’t expect anything clean. This setup is more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.
