Table - best surf conditions forecast for Leggy Point over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, let’s talk feet and miles per hour for Leggy Point. It’s a beach and reef setup, exposed to the south-east swell, but it’s inconsistent, so it takes a special day to fire. Right now, we’re in a long, dead stretch. From today through the first week of July, it’s flat, tiny, or blown out. Don’t even think about it.
The first real chance comes on Wednesday morning, July 15th. An 8-foot south swell (10 seconds) rolls in with a fresh offshore wind from the southwest, making it clean. The wave energy is strong (1232). That’s a big wave – over 8 feet – so it’s for experts only. The afternoon stays big at 8 feet but the wind goes cross-offshore, still clean.
Thursday the 16th drops to around 7 feet from the south in the morning, still clean, but the period is shorter. It’s a solid wave but the rain showers aren’t ideal. The afternoon gets messy with onshore wind.
After that, it’s a washout until Tuesday morning, July 21st. A 4-foot east swell (10 seconds) with a moderate offshore wind from the west-southwest. The energy is moderate (378). Clean, but not big.
The standout day is Wednesday morning, July 22nd. It’s glassy. Dead calm. A 4-foot south swell (7 seconds) with no wind. The energy is moderate (359). For an inconsistent spot like this, a glassy morning with a little swell is a gift. Water temp is about average for this time of year.
The rest of the month goes flat again. This is just how it goes here sometimes – a long dry spell. Forecasts can change, but for now, keep your eyes on the 15th or the 22nd.
Rusty.
