Table - best surf conditions forecast for Leggy Point over the next 16 days.
Alright, listen up. Leggy Point’s gonna make you work for it, but there’s some fire in this forecast if you wait it out. First real surf hits Wednesday the 8th of July, and the energy’s serious out the gate – combined swell energy up around 3288. But it’s the later windows that’ll have you grinning.
Wednesday morning the 8th: 8ft SSE swell, 11-second period, cross-off wind from the SSE at 12 mph. Water temp’s 66°, right on average for this time of year. It’s a bit choppy, score’s just okay. Afternoon drops to 8ft from the SE, still cross-off. Not the cleanest.
Thursday the 9th morning: 7ft SE swell, wind easing to 6 mph, cross-off. Cleaner but energy’s dropping to 862. Afternoon goes clear with 6ft SE. Surfable.
Friday the 10th morning: 5ft SE, light cross-off from the W at 6 mph. But Friday afternoon is the gem – 5ft SE swell, 10-second period, and glassy conditions with a SSW breeze at just 3 mph. That’s the one – clean, smooth, and fun-sized. Combined energy at 525, but the wind state is perfect.
Saturday the 11th: fading fast – 4ft then 3ft, and the wind goes cross-shore. Not worth it. From Sunday the 12th through Wednesday the 15th of July, it’s a total flat spell – heights under 2ft and energy in the teens and twenties. Four days of nothing.
Thursday the 16th: morning brings 7ft S swell at 12 seconds, light westerly cross-off 6 mph, energy at 1411. But Thursday afternoon is the big one – 8ft S swell, 13-second groundswell, clean offshore from the SSW at 6 mph. Combined energy of 2393. That’s powerful, long-period swell. Over 8ft, it’s experts only. Beginners, stay on the beach.
Friday the 17th: too big – 10ft S and SSE swells, even with light winds, it’s predicted to overwhelm this break. Saturday the 18th drops to 6ft then 5ft, but cross-shore winds make it marginal. From Sunday the 19th onward, it fades to small, poor surf with energy under 200. Tuesday the 21st and beyond is mostly flat or ordinary.
Pick your moment: Friday the 10th afternoon for glassy fun, or Thursday the 16th afternoon for a powerful, offshore session if you’ve got the nerve.
Rusty.
