Table - best surf conditions forecast for Leggy Point over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break it down.
The forecast starts with some action but a few bumps in the road. There is a solid swell coming, but you gotta be patient.
Wednesday the 8th kicks off with a 8ft SE swell at Leggy Point, period at 11 seconds – that’s a proper groundswell, packing a ton of energy. Wind is cross-off from the SSE at 12 mph. It’s clean enough, but the report calls it marginal, likely due to tide or the combo. Not a total loss, but not the best of the window.
Thursday the 9th is where things get good. The swell drops to a cleaner 7ft, still from the SE, period at 10 seconds. The wind swings SW and goes light offshore at 6 mph. That’s a huge positive. The energy is still solid, and conditions are flagged as “very good.” This is the top pick for the early period. Water temp is 66°, which is pretty normal for this time of year.
Friday the 10th sees the swell easing to 5ft, still clean with light winds. It’s a fun session, but not a standout compared to Thursday.
From Saturday the 11th onward, we hit a flat spell. Swell drops below 3ft by Sunday, and energy readings go into the low range. The winds get strong and messy. This quiet period runs from Saturday through to around Wednesday the 16th. Nothing worth paddling out for.
Then we get a flicker of life on Friday the 18th of July. The swell builds back to 6ft from the ESE with a moderate offshore wind from the SW at 16 mph. The energy is back up, and it’s clean. But the real gem is the afternoon of the 18th – 5ft, light offshore, gentle breeze, and “very good” conditions. That’s a beautiful window.
Saturday the 19th of July morning also looks promising: 6ft from the south, light cross-off wind, clean, high energy. Another standout session.
The swell keeps pulsing, and by Monday the 20th we see size again (6ft, SE, period 11 seconds), but the wind turns cross and gets fresh, making things lumpy.
Tuesday the 21st of July brings a big jump – 8ft from the ESE with a 12-second period. That’s expert territory at Leggy Point. The wind is fresh offshore from the WSW (19 mph), so the surface will be clean, but it’s going to be a handful. Energy is very strong. This is for experienced surfers only.
Thursday the 23rd of July morning looks excellent – 7ft from the south, clean, gentle breeze. But Thursday afternoon really cranks: a massive 10ft swell from the south, 13-second period, and energy readings are through the roof. The report warns this is likely too big for the break, even with favorable wind. For the big-wave crew only.
The standout pick: Thursday the 9th of July, morning session at Leggy Point – 7ft SE swell, clean offshore wind, very good conditions. Consistent, accessible, and dreamy wind.
Second shout: Saturday the 19th of July, morning – 6ft S swell, light wind, clean, high energy. A close second.
Crowds are “sometimes” an issue at Leggy Point, so expect a few others on those prime days.
Rusty out.
