Table - best surf conditions forecast for Leggy Point over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, let’s talk about what’s coming in feet and miles per hour.
The first couple of days are a total bust. Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th are flat – we’re talking waves less than 1ft, with basically no energy. Not worth looking at.
Then, Wednesday morning the 15th fires up. Leggy Point (beach and reef) gets a solid push of south swell. We’re looking at waves around 8ft from the south, with a period of 9 seconds. The combined energy is a strong 1210. The wind is offshore out of the southwest, so it’ll be clean and lined up. This is for experienced surfers only – it gets over 8ft later in the day. The morning is the clear winner for a proper session. This is the best window of the entire 16-day forecast.
Thursday the 16th still has some size, around 7ft to 7ft, but the wind picks up and the period drops, making it a bit messy. After that, the swell dies.
From Friday the 17th right through to the end of the month, it’s a long, slow fade. Waves drop to 5ft and below, mostly from the east. The energy is weak to moderate. Winds are mostly cross-shore or onshore, so the surf will be choppy. There’s a brief moment on the morning of Tuesday the 21st with a light offshore wind and 4ft waves, and a glassy afternoon with 4ft. That’s a small, clean window for a shortboard, but nothing special. The rest of the time is small and mediocre.
So, your one and only standout is Wednesday morning, July 15th. Big, clean, south swell at Leggy Point. If you’re an experienced surfer, that’s your day. The rest is just waiting for the next pulse.
Rusty.
