Table - best surf conditions forecast for Leggy Point over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Mate, the next couple of days are a total bust for any decent surf. Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th are flat and messy – just a waste of wax. Hang tight.
Things finally turn on Wednesday the 15th of July. A south swell pushes into Leggy Point, a beach and reef break that faces south-east. The morning is the best of it: 1.9m of south swell, clean offshore wind from the SW, and combined energy sitting at 755 – moderate but solid. The period is short, only 7 seconds, so it’ll be a bit lumpy but with that glassy offshore wind, it’ll be clean and rideable. By the afternoon, the swell jumps to 2.3m from the south with a longer 10-second period and the energy hits 1978 – that’s strong. The wind goes cross-off though, so not as pristine. Still, Wednesday morning is your clear standout. It’s over 1.5m, so not for beginners, but intermediates will have a ball.
Thursday the 16th keeps the south swell going at 1.9m with offshore wind in the morning, period at 8 seconds, energy at 764 – still decent, but the afternoon gets a bit rough with some rain. Friday the 17th drops off quick – just knee-high slop with onshore wind. Then it’s a long, quiet stretch. From the weekend through the next week, you’re looking at weak east swells under 4ft, mostly cross or cross-on winds, and choppy conditions. There’s a small chance on Sunday the 26th of July in the afternoon – clean 0.8m east swell with a long 12-second period, light cross-off wind, and combined energy of 201. Not a classic, but it’s the only clean wave in that second week. After that, the last few days are small and blown out by strong offshore winds.
Bottom line: forget the first two days. Wednesday the 15th July morning is your one true standout. After that, a long dry spell with only a tiny hope on Sunday 26th afternoon. Keep an eye open – things can change.
Rusty.
