Table - best surf conditions forecast for Lampaul Plouarzel over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here with a look at the surf ahead for Lampaul Plouarzel. Honestly, it’s a flat, bleak run for the next week and a half, with only one real blip of hope way down the line.
Right now, the water temperature is sitting at 62°F, about average for this time of year. But the surf? Forget it. We’re looking at a long, barren stretch starting immediately. From Tuesday the 7th right through to Sunday the 12th, it’s all tiny waves, mostly under 3ft, with moderate to strong cross-offshore winds blowing at 12 to 25 mph. The combined wave energy is weak, and the reports are all “poor surf conditions.” On Saturday the 11th, the wind kicks up to 25 mph, so it’s not even worth a look.
Then we get a real dead zone. Sunday the 12th into Monday the 13th morning sees the swell drop to 0.3ft – totally flat. The combined energy is down. Just nothing doing.
Now, here’s the only standout. Monday the 13th of July in the afternoon – that’s over a week away. The swell bumps up to 5ft from the NNE with a short period of 8 seconds. That’s not a classic groundswell; it’s a bit on the short side, so expect some jumbled lines and closeouts at this beach and reef setup. But the combined energy is solid – a real surge. The wind is light at 3 mph from the NE, nearly offshore and cross-offshore, keeping faces reasonably clean. It’s not perfect, but given the desert around it, this is the one window. Keep in mind, 5ft is pushing the limit for beginners, and short period swells like this tend to make the beach sections a bit dumpy.
After that, Tuesday the 14th morning has a clean window with glassy conditions and 3ft from the NNE, but it’s ordinary and small. Then it’s back to tiny, weak, and cross-on shore chop through to the 22nd. The rest of the fortnight is a washout, with combined energy mostly weak, and winds often onshore or strong.
So the call: if you’re desperate, Monday afternoon the 13th is your only real chance for a session with some power and clean-ish wind. Everything else is a skunk unless the forecasts change.
Rusty.
