The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s cookin’ for this stretch of coast. We’ve got one spot in the mix, and it’s a bit of a tease.
The forecast is a real mixed bag here. La Derecha del Medio is a sheltered, inconsistent little number, and for the first week and a half, it's mostly a write-off. We’re looking at a long, dry spell from now until around the 19th of August, with hardly anything worth paddling out for. The wind is all over the place, mostly cross or onshore, and the energy just isn't there.
But hold onto your board, because things finally look like they’re shaping up for Thursday the 20th of August. That’s the standout. Thursday morning at La Derecha del Medio is the real deal. We’ve got a clean 6 ft swell rolling in from the SE, with a 10-second period. The energy is pumping hard with a combined swell energy of 569 (moderate wave energy), and the wind is a gentle offshore out of the west. That means glassy, clean lines. This is a sheltered spot, so it’ll need that direction to work, and it looks like it’ll deliver. It’s intermediate-level, so not for the groms, but the water is a touch warmer than normal at 55°, so you can stay out all session.
After that, it fades fast. The afternoon turns to poor conditions, and it’s back to waiting for the next pulse. The rest of the run is flat or blown out. For a spot this inconsistent, a blank run is pretty normal, but that one Thursday morning window is a proper little gem.
Rusty.
