La Couronne Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the menu for the next couple of weeks.

To be honest, it's a grim picture. We're looking at a massive dry spell. There's nothing worth getting wet for from now, all the way through until the 12th of September. That's a solid gap of nearly two weeks with no real surf to speak of.

The only spot we've got on the radar is La Couronne, a beach and reef set-up that's pretty inconsistent at the best of times. It's a sheltered little nook, and the water is sitting much warmer than usual for this time of year, but that's about the only thing going for it.

The first hint of anything even remotely rideable doesn't show up until the morning of Saturday the 12th of September. We're talking a tiny 1ft swell from the east, with a short period of just 3 seconds. The combined energy is a paltry 3, so there's barely any power in the water. The wind is offshore from the NNW though, so it'll be clean, but it's nothing to get excited about.

The afternoon of the 12th sees a slight bump to 2ft from the SE, with a period of 4 seconds and combined energy of 10. Still tiny, still weak, but the wind is a clean cross-offshore.

Things get a little more interesting on the morning of Sunday the 13th of September. The swell is 2ft from the ESE, with a period of 5 seconds, and the combined energy creeps up to 17. The wind is glassy, dead calm, which is a major positive. It'll be clean as a whistle. But the swell is still very small.

The afternoon of the 13th sees the biggest swell of the whole forecast period, at 3ft from the SE, with a 5-second period and combined energy of 26. That's still weak, but it's the peak. The problem is that the wind swings onshore from the SE, which will chop it up. That's a real shame.

If I had to pick a standout, it'd be the glassy morning of the 13th. It's the only time the conditions really align. But it's a long wait for a very small window. For the rest of the time, the setup here looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer, given the strong, clean winds and no waves. For now, it's best to keep the board in the garage and wait for the next proper swell.
