Table - best surf conditions forecast for Floreat groyne over the next 16 days.
G'day, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for Floreat groyne over the next couple of weeks.
We've got a bit of a waiting game to start, but once it kicks in, there's a nice run of clean, fun waves for a few days. The water is sitting at 63.3°, which is a solid 4.3° colder than normal for this time of year, so you'll want a decent hood or at least a thick steamer – it's properly chilly.
The first real action comes on Saturday the 11th. The morning is looking good with a clean 4.3ft WSW swell, a light cross-offshore breeze, and a combined energy of 529 (moderate). It's got a solid 13-second period behind it, so there's some push. The afternoon turns a bit average with a cross-shore breeze, but the morning is the pick.
Now, Sunday the 12th morning is where it gets interesting. Swell bumps up to 5.9ft from the WSW, period stretches out to 15 seconds, and the combined energy hits 1540 (strong). With a light cross-offshore breeze, it's clean. This is a standout session for experienced surfers, as that 5.9ft swell with that much period will have plenty of punch. Monday the 13th morning is similar, with a 6.6ft WSW swell, a 17-second period, and a clean offshore breeze. The energy is pumping at 2156 (strong). This is proper groundswell, and it's going to wrap in nicely. The mornings are the clear winners across the weekend and into Monday, with the afternoons suffering from a cross-shore wind.
Then Tuesday the 14th is a cracker. Both the morning and afternoon sessions are excellent, with a 5.9ft WSW swell, 15-second period, and a clean offshore to light offshore breeze. The energy is 1363 (strong) and it's glassy. This is the best on offer for the moderate surfers who can handle it.
After that, the wheels fall off a bit. From Wednesday the 15th morning through to Saturday the 18th, the wind swings onshore and gets strong. It's messy with a cross-chop and onshore slop. The swell is still there, but the quality is shot. Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th get particularly ugly with strong winds and rain, making it more of a kite-surfing setup than a paddle session.
There's a brief return to form on Sunday the 19th. The morning is clean with a 8.2ft WSW swell and a light cross-offshore, but that's big and powerful. The afternoon is a true gem – glassy conditions with a 7.2ft WSW swell, 14-second period, and 1875 energy (strong). That's a special session for the experienced crew.
The final week, from Monday the 20th onwards, is pretty quiet. The swell drops to around 4.3ft, and the wind is inconsistent. There are a few small windows of clean surf, but nothing to write home about. The crowds at Floreat groyne can pop up sometimes, but with the conditions being so hit and miss, it won't be a circus.
