Alright, grab your wax, let's talk about what's coming. It's a patchy start, but there are some absolute fire days hiding in this forecast if you know where to look.
The water's a bit nippy at 18°, which is about 2° colder than we're used to this time of year. Suit up.
This weekend is a write-off. Saturday the 4th has some 1 to 2ft WSW swell, but a stiff 15 mph northeast wind is gonna chop it up. Not worth the paddle.
Alright, here's the first big one. Monday the 6th of July. The wind switches to a light 9 mph from the south-southeast, giving us a cross-off breeze, and the swell jumps up to a solid 8ft from the west-southwest. The energy is pumping at 2801. This is a long-period groundswell at 16 seconds, so it's going to have some serious push. It's too big for the beginners, but if you've got the skills, this is the best session of the outlook by far.
Tuesday morning the 7th is the absolute standout. That same 8ft swell is still running, the sky is clear, and the wind goes dead calm – glassy from the south-southeast. The wave comment calls it *excellent*, and it is. Perfect, clean conditions on a solid swell. Again, expert-level stuff.
We hit a rough patch from Wednesday afternoon the 8th through the weekend. The wind swings onshore, we get some rain, and the quality tanks. Avoid it.
Monday the 13th of July is your next target. The swell drops a bit to a clean 5ft from the west-southwest with a long 16-second period, and the wind is a beautiful offshore breeze from the east-northeast at 6 mph. The energy is a strong 1487. This one will have plenty of power without being too nuts. Mark it.
Then, for a promising long-range look, keep an eye on Sunday the 19th of July. The forecast shows a solid 8ft west swell with a moderate 11-second period (energy of 1329), but the real kicker is the wind: a glassy 3 mph from the west-southwest in the afternoon. It's a week and a half out, so don't book your flights yet, but if it comes together, that's another plate-glass day waiting to happen.
Rusty.
