Alright, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s coming for Scarborough Beach.
We’ve got a bit of a wait for the real juice, but Friday morning on July 3rd starts things off with clean 5ft WSW groundswell at 14 seconds. Water temp is 64°, which is way colder than normal – 4° below the seasonal average, so you’ll need a thick suit and maybe a hood. Wind is a light offshore from the east, glassy conditions. Combined energy is moderate (999). Friday afternoon is similar at 5ft.
Saturday the 4th gets a little bumpy – a moderate cross-off breeze, swell drops to 4ft in the morning, 5ft in the afternoon with a longer 16-second period, but the wind is messy. Not ideal.
Sunday the 5th is a complete dud – onshore, choppy, tiny 3ft waves. Stay on the beach.
Monday the 6th brings a big jump: 8ft in the morning, 8ft in the afternoon, both from the WSW with 16-second periods. That’s over 8ft – for experts only. Wind is cross-off from the southeast, keeping it reasonably clean. Combined energy hits 2801 and 2937 – strong. But at a beach break, that long period might make it close out a bit. Still, it’s a big, powerful day if you’re skilled.
Tuesday the 7th is another standout. Morning has 8ft with a gentle offshore from the east-southeast (9 mph), excellent conditions. Afternoon drops to 7ft, still clean with light cross-off wind. Energy still high (2766/2243). This is the best window for big clean surf without it being too crazy.
Wednesday the 8th morning is nice at 4ft clean with light wind – good for intermediates. Thursday the 9th morning offers 7ft clean for the experienced.
Friday the 10th through Saturday the 11th has smaller surf (4ft to 5ft), mostly clean. Then Sunday the 12th delivers a sweet 5ft SW groundswell at 16 seconds with clean offshore easterlies all day. Combined energy over 1000 gives it punch. This is your other standout – manageable size, clean, and that long period should wrap nicely.
The next week (13th-16th) runs consistently small to moderate, 3ft to 6ft, mostly clean cross-off winds. Good fun, nothing epic.
Then the 17th and 18th go downhill. Friday the 17th has 7ft but strong onshore with rain – messy, poor. Saturday the 18th has a massive 15ft swell, but it's onshore and the report says it's too big for this break. That’s kite-surf territory.
Best on offer: Tuesday the 7th morning for expert-level clean big waves, and Sunday the 12th for a cleaner, more manageable but still powerful session.
Water’s cold, wind’s offshore, and the swell is coming. Get on it.
