Table - best surf conditions forecast for Scarborough Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s coming our way for Scarborough Beach over the next couple of weeks.
We’ve got a solid run of surf shaping up, but it’s not all smooth sailing. The good news is, there’s plenty of swell on the table, especially for the more experienced crew. Things kick off Wednesday morning with a clean 4ft WSW groundswell, period a long 15 seconds, and a light cross-off breeze. That’s a beautiful combo for a paddle out. The energy is pumping at 1575 (moderate to strong) – an excellent session for those who know what they’re doing.
The best of the first week looks to be Monday the 13th. Morning sees a clean 6ft swell from the WSW with a 16-second period and light cross-off wind. Combined energy is 1720 (strong) and the conditions are described as excellent for experienced surfers. This is the standout – that long period will wrap in nicely here.
We have a few tricky afternoons mixed in with onshore slop, and by the second week, things get a bit wild. Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th see a big jump in size, with 15ft swell on the Saturday and 10ft on Sunday, but the wind turns strong onshore, making it a messy, lumpy mess. That kind of power and chop at this exposed beach break is more for the kite crew than us paddle surfers. The energy values for those days – 8712 and 8898 – are very strong but with those onshore winds, it’s a no-go.
By Monday the 20th, it settles back down. The morning of Wednesday the 22nd is another highlight: a clean 4ft swell, 14 seconds, with a gentle offshore breeze from the east – that’s a classic morning session. The energy is 922 (moderate).
Keep an eye on the tail end, too. Wednesday the 22nd afternoon looks excellent for experienced surfers: 5ft, 15 seconds, and a moderate offshore breeze. That one could be a real beauty, though it’s a bit further out, so don’t lock it in just yet.
Overall, the near-term mornings are your best bet. The water temperature is about average for this time of year.
Rusty.
