Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fishermans Reef over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break it down. Fishermans Reef: it rarely breaks, and this 16-day stretch proves it. From now through the 26th of July, there’s no good surf in the cards. There’s a long dry spell here where you’re not missing anything.
Starting Saturday the 11th, we’ve got a tiny 3ft east swell with a 10-second period. The combined energy is weak (125), and with a light southerly cross-off breeze, it’s still poor. That afternoon and over the next few days, the swell drops off even more—down to 2ft or less, with energy falling into the 30s and 40s. A couple of afternoons, like the 12th and 15th, go glassy, but with only 2ft or 0.7ft of swell, it’s barely a ripple. The 13th brings northerly wind at 12 mph, cross-onshore and choppy, with 3ft of 4-second period junk.
The 14th sees a little north windswell at 3ft, but the period is only 5 seconds—poor energy, poor shape. On the 15th, we get morning glass at a tiny 0.7ft. The 16th stays small with some light offshore tendencies, still not worth it. Then Friday the 17th afternoon becomes the most interesting small window: a 2ft east swell with a very long 16-second period (groundswell), and the wind goes offshore at 9 mph from the southwest. Energy hits 134—moderate. It’s small, but for a rarely breaking reef, the long period could offer a clean, rideable wave if you’re dialed in.
After that, energy climbs. By the 19th, combined energy reaches 221 with a 3ft north-northeast swell and 10-second period. Morning wind is cross-off, but the afternoon gets a fresh 19 mph cross-shore, lumping it up. Saturday the 23rd shows the biggest swell at 4ft from the north with a short 6-second period, but the wind is a moderate 12 mph cross-onshore—choppy and messy. From there it fades back into tiny, weak surf, with some light rain and storms possible on the 25th and 26th.
Water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing wild.
So what’s the call? No standout days. If you’re keen, Friday the 17th afternoon might give you a clean but tiny long-period wave if conditions line up. Otherwise, this stretch is flat or messy. For a spot that rarely works and is very sheltered, you’re better off waiting. Things can change, but right now it’s a bust for paddle surfing.
Rusty.
