Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fishermans Reef over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you: the next 16 days at Fishermans Reef is a real mixed bag. We’ve got a long dry spell of tiny, unsurfable junk to start, then a big pulse of energy shows up later. It’s a classic case of waiting for the good stuff.
For the first eight days, from Saturday the 11th right through to Saturday the 18th, it’s a write-off. The combined energy is mostly weak, reading between 3 and 129. The swell heights are puny, barely cracking 3ft, and the wind is all over the place – cross, onshore, and messy. Don’t even bother. The water temp is sitting at 58°F, which is about average for the time of year, but that’s about the only thing average.
Now, things start to get interesting on Sunday the 19th. The morning shows a bit of life with a 4ft swell from the north, moderate energy at 377, and clean conditions. But it’s the afternoon that’s the real teaser. The wind swings offshore from the SSW, and we get a solid 10ft swell from the east. That’s not for the faint of heart – over 8ft is expert territory. The period is a short 8 seconds, so it’ll be a bit lumpy, but with 1439 energy behind it, you’ll feel the power.
The standout session, no doubt, is Monday the 20th. The morning sees a 12ft east swell with 3530 energy, clean and offshore from the SW. By the afternoon, it’s maxing out at 15ft from the ENE, with a massive 4672 energy reading. The period stretches to 10 seconds, so you’re getting proper groundswell lines. This is big, powerful, and for experienced surfers only. The wind stays clean, so if you’ve got the stones, this is your window.
After that, things drop off a bit. Tuesday the 21st is still big – 10ft in the morning – but the wind turns cross-shore, making it choppy. The rest of the week shows a steady decline back to small, wind-affected junk by the 25th and 26th.
So, to sum it up: wait for the 19th and 20th. The 20th is the absolute best on offer, but it’s a monster. Don’t get caught out.
Rusty.
