Table - best surf conditions forecast for O'Neills Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright, let's talk this out in the old units. Rusty here again.
This run at O'Neills Bay is a classic winter storm track. Big, long-period groundswell from the southwest, but we've got to sit through a few days of rough northwesterlies to get to the real gems.
We kick off on Saturday, 11th July, with waves around 4 to 5 feet from the southwest on a very long 15-second period. That's a lot of water moving (1290 energy). The wind is a light cross-off from the southeast at 6 mph, making it clean. For the experienced guys, this is a solid start.
Sunday the 12th is your first serious option. The swell holds at about 6 feet from the west-southwest, still with a very long period. The real treat is the wind: it's glassy on the Sunday morning, and offshore from the east-northeast at 3 mph in the afternoon. This is the kind of clean, lined-up swell that makes a West Coast winter worthwhile.
Monday the 13th stays clean with waves dropping to about 4 feet.
We have a bit of a gap through the middle of the week, but then Thursday the 16th morning shows up with a bigger pulse. Swell hits 7 feet from the WSW, and the wind goes glassy again. This is big, clean, and powerful, only for the experienced crew.
We lose a few days to strong southwesterly onshore winds on the 17th and 18th, turning the lineup into a washing machine.
But the absolute standout of the whole run hits on Sunday, 19th July. This is the one. The swell jumps to a solid 10 feet from the SW, riding a huge 17-second period. The combined energy is a massive 4386. And the wind? Clean offshore from the east-northeast at just 3 mph. This is a perfect, big-wave, expert-only session. It's going to be a clean, heaving wall of water.
After that, the swell drops back to around 5 feet for Monday the 20th, with clean east winds. The end of the run goes small and weak from the 22nd to the 24th, with wave energy dropping way off.
So, for the best sessions: the glassy Sunday the 12th is a cracker, the glassy Thursday the 16th is a big one, and the Sunday the 19th is the absolute champion of the forecast. If you can get out that Sunday, drop everything.
Rusty.
