Table - best surf conditions forecast for Red Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for Red Beach over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it’s a slow start. The first week and a half is pretty much a write-off. We’re looking at a long, dry spell from Monday the 13th right through until Saturday the 26th of July. The swell is tiny, the periods are all over the place, and the wind is mostly a mess. There’s a fleeting moment on Tuesday the 14th with a clean 3ft wave from the north, but with a period of just 5 seconds, it’s gonna be weak and bumpy. Not worth getting wet for. The water temp is sitting at 58°, which is about average for this time of year, so nothing wild there.
The real story, and the only time you should be looking at your board, is the very end of the run. The standout period is Sunday the 27th of July through to Tuesday the 29th. We get a proper pulse of long-period groundswell from the east (13 seconds), and the combined energy jumps into the strong range (727 on Sunday morning). This is the real deal. The swell holds at 5ft, which is a solid size, but it’s a bit much for the groms – this is more for the experienced crew. The wind is looking light and variable, with Sunday morning offering a gentle cross-shore and Monday the 28th going glassy. That’s the magic window.
So, for the pick of the bunch, it’s Red Beach on the morning of Monday the 28th of July. It’s a 4ft easterly groundswell with a 12-second period, and the wind goes glassy. That’s about as clean as it gets, and the energy is still solid (333). Just be aware, this is a beginner-friendly spot that’s inconsistent, so don’t expect a non-stop show. The crowds can show up sometimes when it’s this good, so get in early.
By Tuesday afternoon, the onshore wind swings back in and the quality drops off. That’s your window.
Rusty.
