Alright, Rusty here. Let's talk about what's cooking at Red Beach.
First up, the water's sitting at about 59°F, which is pretty average for this time of year, so nothing freaky going on there. The overall pattern for the next two weeks looks pretty grim, to be honest. We've got a massive gap of surf that's just not worth paddling out for, stretching from Sunday right through to midweek the following week. The energy is weak or poor quality for most of it.
The only real standout in this whole outlook is a long-range call for Monday, July 20th. I say long-range, so keep that in mind – it's promising, but the models could shift. Monday morning has a solid pulse of swell coming in at about 12ft from the NNE, with a period of 8 seconds. That's a lot of water moving, with a combined energy reading of (1767), which is strong. But here's the catch: that size is too big for most, it's really only for the experts. The wind is cross-shore and moderate, so it won't be glassy, but it might be doable for the brave. The rest of that day gets written off with heavy rain and a bigger, messier 15ft swell in the afternoon. Keep an eye on that Monday morning window if you're a proper charger.
The best of a bad bunch for clean conditions comes on Wednesday, July 15th. The afternoon has glassy conditions with a tiny 1ft easterly swell, period 12 seconds. It's surfable but very ordinary. You'd be out there just to get wet, not for any real waves.
Forget about the first week and a half. There are a few days with marginal conditions, but the wind and chop ruin it. Kite surfers might have a look at some of those windy, lumpy days from July 7th and 8th, but for a paddle surfer, it's a write-off.
So, to wrap it up: a long, flat spell, then one potentially epic but dangerous morning for the experts on July 20th. The rest is a bust. Stay patient.
Stay salty,
Rusty
