Red Beach Surf Guide

Red Beach in Auckland East Coast is a quite exposed beach break that only works once in a while. Spring and Summer provide the optimum conditions. Offshore winds blow from the west. Tends to receive distant groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the northeast. Waves at the beach are both lefts and rights. Best around mid tide. It's sometimes crowded here.

“Constant 7-8ft barrels. This break has a absolute cooking right hander of the reef and if you have big enough balls the break on top of the reef is a heavy slab. further down the beach there is a heavy shorebreak which gives barrels every time. Locals are hostile so would recommend to bring safety gear to avoid being knocked out by a punch. A helmet is recommended as the surf gets pretty gnarly out at reddaz.”
