Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let’s get into it. The only spot on the radar here is Rimmers Road. It’s an exposed beginner-friendly beach break that's very consistent, and it sees plenty of surf through the next couple weeks, but it takes some patience to find the real gems.
We’re looking at a bit of a slow start. Friday the 3rd has tiny 2ft SW groundswell rolling in with a long 13-second period, and the wind is glassy out of the NNE. The combined energy is weak, only 145, so it’s small and clean but nothing to get excited about. Water temp is sitting at 59°, pretty average for this time of year.
Saturday the 4th stays small with similar 2ft swell but the wind swings NE and picks up, turning it cross-off. Not the best. Sunday the 5th has a bit more size—7ft on Sunday morning but with a short 9-second period and cross-on wind. That’s messy. The energy jumps to 1161 (moderate), but conditions are marginal.
The real story starts to unfold from Monday the 6th onwards. The swell builds hard. Monday morning shows 10ft WSW swell at 13 seconds with onshore wind—rough, not for paddling. Afternoon gets bigger and choppier. Monday and Tuesday the 7th see the swell jump dramatically. Tuesday morning has a solid 15ft WSW groundswell at a long 16 seconds, with clean offshore ENE wind. The combined energy is massive at 9082 (very strong). But here’s the thing: at over 8ft, this is expert territory only. For beginners, this is way too big. Tuesday afternoon stays big and clean with offshore wind.
Wednesday the 8th drops a little to 10ft SW with cross-shore wind, still too big for most. Things settle through the end of the week. Thursday the 9th afternoon offers a standout: 6ft WSW swell at a very long 17-second period, cross-off wind, clean conditions, combined energy of 2737 (strong). This is the pick for experienced surfers looking for power and shape.
Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th keep the quality with 5ft to 6ft WSW groundswell, periods around 15-18 seconds, clean and light winds. Saturday afternoon is especially good: 6ft, 15-second period, cross-off, combined energy 1786. Clean, lined up, and with that long period, Rimmers Road as a beach break might break a bit straight, but the quality is high.
Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th continue the run of clean, decent surf. Monday morning has 5ft SW at 14 seconds with offshore wind, energy 1002. That’s excellent for experienced surfers.
Tuesday the 14th sees the swell drop back to 2ft but with a very long 20-second period and offshore wind—glass-like conditions. Tiny but perfect for a longboard or a beginner session. Wednesday the 15th picks up again to 4ft to 4ft WSW at 15-16 seconds, clean and offshore. Another good window.
Now, look ahead: Thursday the 16th brings another big pulse—13ft to 15ft WSW swell with a shorter 10-12 second period. Glassy on Thursday morning, offshore Thursday afternoon. This is huge again, expert-only, and with that period, it’ll be thumping but not as well-organised. Friday the 17th stays big at 13ft with offshore wind.
Finally, Saturday the 18th offers a sweet finish: 7ft SW in the morning with light ENE wind, glassy by the afternoon with 6ft SW at 13 seconds. Clean and much more manageable for strong intermediates.
The standout: Saturday the 11th afternoon and Sunday the 12th afternoon. Both have clean, light cross-off wind, 6ft to 6ft WSW groundswell at 15-16 seconds, combined energy in the strong range, and conditions are described as excellent for experienced surfers. That’s where I’d be pointing my board. Crowds are listed as “sometimes” so you might have company, but it’s worth it.
For the beginners, don’t bother with anything over 5ft. Stick to the tiny glassy days like Friday the 3rd or Tuesday the 14th.
