Alright mate, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s comin’ down the line for Rimmers Road.
Right off the bat, we’re lookin’ at a quiet start. Saturday the 4th has tiny little waves, only 2ft to 2ft from the SW and W, with a cross-off breeze. It’s surfable but pretty ordinary, not worth gettin’ wet for unless you’re desperate for a paddle. The combined energy is weak at 152, so there’s just nothin’ pushin’.
Now, Sunday the 5th morning is where it starts to wake up. We’ve got a 6ft swell from the W, period around 9 seconds, and the wind goes glassy – dead calm from the NW. That’s a major positive, the surface’ll be like a mirror. The combined energy jumps to a moderate 903. This is the first real highlight and it’s a beauty for the size. Perfect for a beginner or someone just wantin’ cruisy waves. No crowds mentioned, so you might have it quiet too.
Monday the 6th rolls in with a big jump in size – 10ft from the WSW – but that’s too much juice for this break. The combined energy is a very strong 3633, and while the conditions are clean on the morning, that’s expert-only territory. Afternoon stays big and clean but still too heavy for most. Tuesday the 7th is the same story, pumping 12ft to 10ft WSW swell with offshore winds, but again, it’s just too big for Rimmers Road. This pattern of oversized swell holds through Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th, with 8ft to 10ft waves and strong energy readings in the 2000-5000 range. Good for the groms to watch, not to paddle.
Friday the 10th drops a touch but stays messy, with strong cross-shore winds and lumpy conditions. The swell hangs around 6ft to 6ft but the wind kills it. Skip it.
Saturday the 11th is where we get another standout. The swell settles to a solid 6ft from the SW, period a nice long 16-17 seconds, and the wind is light and cross-off. Combined energy is a strong 2134. The water temp is about average for this time of year. This is excellent for experienced surfers – clean, lined up, and plenty of push. Sunday the 12th keeps the quality high, with 5ft to 5ft WSW swell, period still long at 15-16 seconds, and the wind turns offshore on the afternoon. Light breeze, clean conditions, energy around 1030 to 1318. This is another top session for anyone who knows what they’re doin’. The longer period means better shape and easier paddling, but at a beach break it might straighten out a bit – still, it’s lookin’ good.
Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th drop off in size, with 5ft down to 2ft, but conditions stay clean with light winds. Worth a look for the small-wave crew or beginners, especially Monday morning with that light offshore breeze. Wednesday the 15th is small and marginal, best left alone.
Now, Thursday the 16th – here’s another big one. We’ve got 8ft from the WSW, period 15 seconds, and a moderate offshore wind from the ENE. Combined energy is a very strong 3345. This is excellent for experienced surfers only – that’s a heavy wave. Clean, fast, and powerful. Afternoon stays clean with light winds, still big at 8ft. This is the best session of the second week, no doubt.
Friday the 17th gets messy with onshore wind and a 6ft swell – not great. Saturday the 18th is blown out with fresh cross-shore winds and big 8ft to 10ft swell, lumpy and unappealing. Sunday the 19th is poor, with onshore wind and dropping swell. The run ends flat.
Overall, the best on offer is Sunday the 5th morning for the glassy conditions and fun size, and then the run from Saturday the 11th through Monday the 13th, with Saturday and Sunday being the true standouts for experienced surfers. Thursday the 16th is also a cracker for the big-wave crew.
Rusty.
