Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rimmers Road over the next 16 days.
G'day, Rusty here, and I'm looking straight at the Rimmers Road forecast.
Alright, so the first call for any sort of surf is Friday morning, July 10th, but honestly, we gotta be patient. The first few days are a write-off for a paddle. We've got a massive 10ft SW swell rolling in, but the wave energy is in the thousands (4941) – that's a serious amount of juice. For a beginner-to-intermediate spot like Rimmers Road, it's just too big. The wind is cross-shore, so it's not going to be clean. This same big swell situation hangs around through the 10th and into the middle of the week.
The first real window where it gets interesting is Saturday morning, July 11th. The swell drops to a still-chunky 7ft from the SW with a nice long 16-second period, so it's a proper groundswell. The big news is the wind swings offshore from the ESE and it's light. That means clean faces. The wave energy is still high (3106), so this is definitely for experienced surfers only. It's going to be a standout session. Saturday afternoon stays clean with a cross-offshore breeze and 6ft swell.
Sunday the 12th is looking like the gem of the entire run. We've got a 7ft SW groundswell (16-second period) in the morning with light offshore E wind, and the energy is still solid (2320). Then Sunday afternoon, it goes glassy with a light ENE breeze and a 7ft WSW swell. That's about as good as it gets for a clean, powerful wave. The water temp is sitting at 59°, which is bang on average for the time of year, so no surprises there.
The quality holds into Monday the 13th with a smaller 5ft WSW swell and clean conditions, but it's a step down in power. From Tuesday the 14th into Wednesday the 15th, the swell drops off and the wind turns messy with cross-onshore and onshore flows, so we're looking at a few days of marginal surf. There's a sneaky spike on Wednesday morning the 15th with a 5ft swell from the WSW with a massive 20-second period, but the wind is cross-shore, so it won't be clean.
Then we get another big pulse from the 15th through the 17th, but it's back to being too big (10ft) and the wind is onshore or cross-onshore, so it's a messy, blown-out situation. The 18th has some size but it's cross-shore and choppy, not great.
Hold on for Sunday the 19th. Another beauty morning is on the cards. Glassy conditions with a light ENE wind and a 8ft SW groundswell (16-second period). The energy is strong (2881). That's a solid, clean wave, but again, at that size, it's an expert-only affair. Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st mornings both look excellent with clean offshore winds and solid 7ft to 8ft SW swells. The Tuesday afternoon on the 21st gets a bit tricky—the swell jumps to 10ft from the SW, but with a short 9-second period and a strong offshore, it'll be a powerful, pitching wall. That's a serious drop.
After that, the swell fades through the 22nd and 23rd, and the wind turns cross-onshore, bringing us back to marginal conditions. The last few days of the run, from the 24th onwards, are flat with weak energy (139 to 170) and cross-onshore winds. Just a quiet finish to the outlook.
The pick of the whole period is Sunday the 12th, with that glassy afternoon session, and Saturday the 11th morning for the first clean, powerful swell.
Rusty.
