Table - best surf conditions forecast for Faria over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again. Let’s talk Faria in feet and knots. We’re lookin’ at a solid 16 days of… well, not much. There’s a big ol’ gap at the start. From July 12th right through until the morning of Saturday, July 18th, it’s just poor surf conditions and no real recommendations. That’s a full week of flat, messy, or just plain unrideable surf. You’re better off waxing your lunch than your board.
Then, Saturday morning, July 18th, we finally get a pulse. The swell picks up to 3ft from the S, with a solid period of 16 seconds. That’s a proper groundswell. The combined energy is strong (639), but the comment says “poor surf conditions.” The wind is a light cross-onshore from the S at 6 mph, which is a bit of a bummer, but it’s light. This is the best we’ve got on offer, but it’s a real “almost” situation. For a beginner, 3ft is fine, but that long period (over 15 seconds) is a caveat. At a beach and reef setup like Faria, that long period swell can break a bit too straight for a classic peak. The crowds are “sometimes” an issue, so you might have a bit of company.
Sunday, July 19th, the morning shows a “marginal” call with a 3ft S swell at 11 seconds. The energy is moderate (330) and the wind is light and onshore from the SW. This is a very average, workable day, but nothing to write home about.
After that, we drift back into a sea of “poor” and “marginal” calls. Swell hangs around from the SSW for the second week, but the period is often short (under 14 seconds) or the wind is messy. The combined energy values drop into the 100s and 200s (weak to moderate), showing the lack of real punch. The morning of Friday, July 24th, shows a 1ft swell with a very long 24-second period (284 energy), but again, it’s “poor.” That kind of period is only for the most patient surfer on a point or reef, but here at the beach and reef, it’s a tough ask.
The last real chance is Monday, July 27th, with a 2ft SW swell, a 18-second period, and strong energy (411). It’s another “marginal” call, but the wind is light and onshore from the SW. That’s about as good as it gets in the second week: a clean, long period groundswell at a small size.
The water temp is about average for this time of year. No big anomalies to report.
Overall, the standout is the morning of Saturday, July 18th, but it’s not a classic. The rest of the first week is a complete write-off. The second week offers a few “marginal” sessions, but nothing that’s a guaranteed winner. If you’re desperate, you might scratch a wave on the 18th or 27th, but don’t hold your breath. Forecasts can change, and it looks like it’s due for a shake-up.
Rusty.
