Table - best surf conditions forecast for Faria over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s going on at Faria for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch. The next week and a half looks pretty grim for a proper paddle session. We’ve got a whole lot of small, weak swell and the wind is almost always on it or cross-on. The water is sitting at about 64°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least a wetsuit isn't a total misery.
The first real flicker of life doesn’t show up until the 18th of July, Saturday morning. The swell comes up a bit to 2ft from the SW, with a very long period of 18 seconds. That’s a long-period groundswell, and even though the energy is moderate (342), it’s still got that cross-on wind messing with the surface. It’s a marginal call at best.
Honestly, the only thing that gets my heart beating a little faster is the 19th of July, Sunday morning. We finally see a clean-looking slot: offshore wind from the SW at 6 mph, and the swell pushes up to 3ft from the S, with a decent 14-second period. The energy is strong (569), and with that light offshore breeze, Faria should actually have some clean, workable lines. The wind is onshore, so it’s glassy. That’s your one standout window. After that, it drops back into the small stuff.
If you’re a beginner, that 3ft is fine. The rest of the period is tiny, mostly 1.0ft to 2ft, so it’s not a danger zone. But for the first 10 days, this is a kite-surfing setup if anything – the wind is light, but the swell is weak and the quality is poor.
For the 19th, it’s a definite go. The rest of the window? Better luck next time. Keep an eye on the long-range, but treat anything after the 20th as a long shot.
Rusty.
