The Lowdown
Alright team, Rusty here. Let’s break it down for Fabregas. Over the next 16 days, we’re looking at a pretty quiet stretch, so I’ll keep it real.
We start off flat. From Tuesday, August 4th through to Sunday, August 10th, there’s almost nothing. The first wave on Tuesday morning is only 2ft from the east, with a short 3-second period. The combined swell energy is a weak 5. The wind is a cross-on 12 mph, and the water is much warmer than normal at 80°, running 6° above the long-term average for this time of year. It’s choppy and no good. Wednesday morning goes glassy, but the swell is a tiny 0.7ft. Then we have a long gap with no waves from Thursday the 6th through Monday the 10th.
The second week doesn’t give us much. Monday afternoon, August 10th, sees a 0.3ft south swell, 5-second period, energy a 1. Not enough. Tuesday the 11th morning looks cleaner with a 0.7ft south swell and offshore northwest wind at 9 mph, but still too small. Then another dry spell from Wednesday the 12th to Sunday the 16th, with no surf.
The best chance comes late. On Monday, August 17th afternoon, there’s a 1ft southeast swell, 6-second period, energy at 6. It’s clean with a cross-off wind. Tuesday, August 18th is our best window: 2ft south swell, 5-second period, energy at 17 in the morning and 13 in the afternoon. Light cross-off winds both sessions will keep it clean. For a beginner, it’s safe enough, but don’t expect much push. Crowds are possible here, but with these tiny waves, it’ll be quiet.
Fabregas is a fairly exposed beginner spot, and the optimum swell direction is from the southeast. That south swell fits, but the size and period just aren’t there. A flat run overall, but it never stays poor for long. Keep checking back.
