Table - best surf conditions forecast for Castelejo over the next 16 days.
Alright, it’s Rusty here, giving you the lowdown for Castelejo in feet and miles per hour.
The next week and a half is mostly a bust. From Friday the 10th through the 19th, it’s ugly. Onshore and cross-onshore winds blow all day, and the swell is small and weak. The combined wave energy is low, mostly under 100, and even when it climbs a bit on a day like Sunday the 12th morning (209), the wind is still a problem. It’s all *poor surf conditions*.
The only real chance in that first week is Sunday morning, the 12th. Wind goes light offshore from the SSE, and the surf is a clean 3-4 ft from the WNW, with a 9-second period. Wave energy is moderate at 209. Water temp is about 69°F, which is normal for the season. That morning window is your one shot before the wind switches and messes things up by afternoon.
After that, it’s a long, drawn-out dry spell of onshore crud.
The big standout is Monday the 20th. Dawn patrol is the move – glassy conditions with a light NNE breeze at just 3 mph. Swell runs 4-5 ft from the NNW, period around 9 seconds, and the combined energy is a solid 333. The waves will be head-high plus, and with that glassy surface, they’ll be as clean as it gets in this forecast. That’s your session.
Further out, Saturday the 25th afternoon has a glassy window with a tiny N breeze. Swell is 5-6 ft from the NW, period 10 seconds, and the combined energy jumps to a strong 640. That’s serious power, and for Castelejo’s reef and beach setup, it could be excellent, but it’s also a bit too big for beginners. It’s 15 days out, so keep an eye on it, but don’t bet the farm.
Sum it up: Sunday the 12th morning works, but Monday the 20th is the one. Get on it.
Rusty.
