Alright, let’s look at Carrownisky in feet and miles per hour. The outlook is basically the same, mate—it’s a tough read for the next couple of weeks.
There’s a big gap from the 6th of July onward, with no decent surf. We’re talking weak, tiny swell with barely 1 to 2 feet of wave height, and cross-onshore winds making a mess of it. The wave energy is in the low double digits, nothing to write home about.
Things clean up a bit around Saturday the 11th of July, with the wind turning light and cross-offshore. The swell is still tiny, only about 1 foot from the WNW, but the surface will be clean. For a beginner on a foamie, you might just find a little 1-foot bump to practice on. Sunday the 12th is even smaller, with waves barely breaking.
The best of a bad situation comes from Monday the 13th of July onward. The wind goes fully offshore from the east, and while the swell is still pathetic—only 0.3 to 0.6 feet—the conditions will be glassy. Carrownisky is a very consistent, beginner-friendly spot, so even these tiny clean ripples offer a chance to learn. The water is sitting at about 59°F, which is spot on for the season.
But let’s be honest, there is no proper surf forecast here. For anyone wanting a wave you can actually ride, it’s a no-go. The long blank run is pretty standard for this area when the swell is out.
