The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for Bude over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, I’m looking at a pretty bleak picture. The whole 16-day window is a write-off, I’m afraid. There’s not a single session that’s worth paddling out for. We’ve got a long, blank run here from the start right through to the end of the forecast. Conditions are just stubbornly poor.
The water’s a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, sitting at 64°F.
We’re seeing a bit of a pulse of energy on the morning of Sunday the 26th of July, with a combined swell energy of 245 (moderate), and a swell height of 5ft coming from the W. But the wind is a cross-onshore from the NW at 16 mph, making it choppy and messy. That’s no good for a clean wave. The best we get in terms of conditions is a glassy morning on Thursday the 23rd of July, but the swell is a tiny 2ft from the NNW with a combined energy of just 37 (weak). There’s nothing to ride.
For a spot that’s fairly exposed, it’s a stubborn run of flatness. For the beginners, there’s nothing here at all, and for the experienced crew, there’s just no energy to work with. The breaks are all beach setups, and with the wind directions we’ve got, it’s not even looking interesting for a kite session. Just a dead period.
Hang in there, the forecasts can change.
Rusty.
