The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' for Blonde Reef.

The next few days are a write-off, honestly. We've got a run of weak, onshore or cross-onshore junk starting from Saturday the 12th. Small swell with poor conditions, and that NE wind just messin' it up. You're lookin' at about 2ft to 5ft of slop. Not worth paddlin' out for. There's a bit of moderate energy in the water, but it's all wind-affected and messy.

Now, come Thursday the 17th, things get interesting. The wind is forecast to go glassy in the morning, and we've got a solid 8ft swell from the ENE. That's a big jump in energy, up to 967, which is strong. That glassy morning is the absolute standout. The swell's period is 10 seconds, so it'll have some decent shape, and that offsore wind will have the waves clean and lined up. This is the best on offer, hands down. The water is about 81°, which is pretty normal for this time of year, no real anomaly to speak of.

Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th still look good, with clean conditions and a solid 6ft of ENE swell. The energy is still moderate to strong. But the real magic is that Thursday morning glass-off with 8ft swell.

After that, from Sunday the 20th onwards, we start to lose the clean winds. The swell stays around 6ft to 8ft, but the wind shifts back onshore or cross-on, making it choppy and messy. There's some big energy late in the run, over 900 again on the 22nd and 23rd, but it's all blown out. A couple of days later in the week, around the 24th and 25th, we get some clean cross-offshore winds again, but the swell drops to 5ft to 7ft. It's marginal but might be worth a look if you're desperate.

So, to sum it up: forget the first few days. Thursday the 17th morning is your absolute winner. Get on it.

Rusty.
