Table - best surf conditions forecast for Anne Street Reef over the next 16 days.
Alright, mate, let’s break it down for Anne Street Reef. This is a very consistent little reef break, good for beginners, and it’s exposed to the swell. The water’s at 69°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so you’ll want a wetsuit.
The first chance to get a surf in is Friday morning, July 10th. We’ve got a 6ft SE swell rolling, with a 10-second period, and the wind is cross-off from the south, keepin’ it clean. The combined energy is moderate at 1006. It’s not a standout, but it’s a start. The afternoon turns a bit lumpy with cross-shore wind and drops to 6ft.
Saturday the 11th morning is tough. The swell drops to 3ft from the SE, period up to 11 seconds, but the wind is a light cross-off from the SSW. It’s clean, but tiny. The energy is only 231. Not much there.
We’re lookin’ at a long stretch of flat to knee-high conditions from Saturday afternoon all the way through the middle of the week. There’s a few clean mornings with a bit of offshore wind, but the swell barely hits 2ft, and the energy is way down. You’re lookin’ at a solid 5 or 6 days where it’s hardly worth bringin’ the board.
Things pick up on Thursday the 16th of July. The swell jumps to 7ft from the SE, but the period is short at 8 seconds, and the wind is a fresh 30 km/h cross-off. The energy is moderate at 510. It’s a bit raw. Friday the 17th is similar, with 7ft to 8ft SE swell, but the wind is cross-shore and lumpy, and the energy is around 478 to 690. Not pretty.
The biggest swell of the window hits on Saturday the 18th of July. We’re talkin’ 12ft from the SE, with a 10-second period. The combined energy is strong at 3391. The wind is a moderate 25 km/h cross-shore. But that much swell is too big for this spot, and the conditions are only for experts. The morning session is the only one that’s flagged as having favorable wind and tide, but it’s serious size. The afternoon drops to 8ft and is messy.
After that, the swell backs off through the 19th and 20th, with the wind turnin’ onshore and choppy. The best of the leftovers is Monday the 20th morning, with a clean 5ft SE swell, period 10 seconds, and light cross-off wind from the south. Energy is 394. It’s surfable, but not a standout.
By Tuesday the 21st morning, we’ve got a 4ft swell from the east, 9-second period, and a light cross-off from the WNW keepin’ it clean. Energy is 220. Still small.
The rest of the window into the 22nd and beyond is tiny again, with 2ft to 3ft waves and very low energy. The best of that is Thursday the 23rd afternoon with glassy conditions and 2ft from the east, but it’s barely a ripple.
Honestly, the only real standout in this whole 16-day run is the Saturday the 18th morning if you’re an expert lookin’ for a big, powerful SE swell. Otherwise, it’s a lean stretch. Grab a coffee and watch the forecast change.
