The Lowdown
Alright, let's break it down. It's a quiet stretch ahead, but there are a few windows to get out. The wave energy is mostly light to moderate, with the combined energy numbers sitting between 100 and 349, so nothing is really firing.
The first chance to surf comes on Sunday the 23rd. Small waves, about 3ft, from the east with an 8-second period. The wind is a light cross-offshore from the south, so it's clean. It's just surfable, not great. Energy is moderate (121). Not a standout, but you can get a few.
Monday the 24th is a washout with rain and onshore wind. Tuesday the 25th morning, though, looks good. Glassy conditions with no wind, swell at 3ft from the east-northeast, period still 8 seconds. Energy is moderate (116). It's a beginner-friendly wave on the reef, and with no wind, it'll be clean. A solid option if you've got a flexible morning.
Wednesday the 26th morning also has glassy conditions, with 3ft east swell. Clean again, but even smaller. A few waves to be had.
Thursday the 27th morning sees a slight bump to 4ft from the east-southeast, with a moderate cross-offshore breeze from the south. The energy jumps to 349, which is moderate but on the higher side. Conditions stay clean. This is probably the best bet of the whole run. Not big, but the cleanest, most energetic window. After that, it fades.
From Friday the 28th through the end of the first week, it's mostly poor with onshore or cross-shore wind, small swell, and choppy conditions. Not worth paddling out.
Into the second week, Tuesday morning September 1st has 4ft from the east, 7-second period, light cross-shore wind. Still poor conditions. Not inspiring.
Wednesday morning September 2nd sees a return to glassy conditions, with 3ft east swell, period stretching to 9 seconds. Clean again, but still small. A morning session for the dedicated.
Thursday and Friday mornings in early September offer more of the same – glassy or light wind, small swell around 3ft, east-northeast. Clean but tiny. By Saturday the 5th, it's dropping below 2ft and the energy is falling into weak territory. The last few days of the forecast are all under 3ft, with very low energy. Not worth getting excited about.
So, the standout window is Thursday morning, August 27th. The swell is 4ft from the east-southeast, winds are cross-offshore and clean, energy is the highest of the period (349). That's your best chance for a decent session. The Tuesday morning glass-off on the 25th is a close second for cleaner, smaller waves.
No big swells here, no long-period groundswell. It's all short-period, small stuff. For a beginner reef break like this, it's fine. But don't expect any barrels.
Signing off, Rusty.
