Table - best surf conditions forecast for Anne Street Reef over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s cooking for the next couple of weeks.
Looks like a bit of a slow start, but there’s a solid pulse of energy coming through later on. The first few days are a bit of a mixed bag, with only small, clean waves on offer, so don’t get too excited just yet. The water is sitting at 68.7°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year.
Anne Street Reef is the only spot in the game, and it’s a very consistent little reef break that’s ideal for beginners. The early part of the week is pretty marginal. Thursday morning (July 9th) has a clean 3.6 ft SE swell with a 11-second period, decent energy (423), and cross-off winds, but it’s just not really doing much. Friday and Saturday are similar – small, clean, but nothing to write home about.
There’s a big gap from Sunday afternoon, July 13th, all the way through to the end of the third week of July where the waves just drop off completely. Swell energy plummets to double digits, and we’re looking at knee-high slop at best. The wind is light, but there’s just no push. It’s a proper lull, and that’s pretty normal for this area when the swell windows close up.
Now, hold onto your board shorts, because things get interesting around Thursday, July 23rd. A strong SE swell starts building in, with offshore winds. By Thursday morning we’re looking at 5.9 ft SE swell at 10 seconds, and the energy is pumping (589). The wind is offshore and fresh, so it’ll be clean. But the real standout is Friday, July 24th. The morning session is forecast to see a solid 9.8 ft ESE swell with a 11-second period. That’s a massive amount of energy (1796) and the wind is offshore and light. This is a true standout for experts only – that’s way too big for beginners. It’s a big, powerful groundswell hitting this reef, and with that sort of size, it’ll be a proper session for those with the skills. The afternoon sees it drop back to 8.2 ft, but it goes cross-on, so definitely hit the morning. This is a promising call, but it’s a long way out, so keep an eye on the forecasts.
Short Range ForecastLight rain (total 7mm), mostly falling on Thu afternoon. Very mild (max 19°C on Thu morning, min 14°C on Fri night).
