Table - best surf conditions forecast for Anne Street Reef over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming up for Anne Street Reef. It’s a reef break that’s very consistent, best for beginners, and loves an ESE swell. The water’s sitting about average for this time of year, nothing wild to report on that front.
The next couple of weeks are a real mixed bag. We’ve got a run of small, clean surf starting Saturday 11 July, but it’s all pretty weak. The combined energy on Saturday morning is only 231 (moderate), with a 3ft SE swell at 11 seconds. That’s a bit of groundswell, but nothing to write home about. Sunday the 12th is similar, with the energy dropping to 199. By Monday the 13th, it’s barely a ripple – 2ft and 62 energy. Honestly, the first week is a struggle. There’s a gap from the afternoon of Monday 13th right through to the morning of Monday 20th July where the surf is poor or marginal. That’s a solid six-day stretch of nothing you’d want to paddle out for.
The standout window is the morning of Monday 20 July. That’s the one. Clean conditions with a light breeze from the south, cross-offshore, and a solid 7ft ESE swell rolling in at 9 seconds. The combined energy hits 625 (moderate to strong). It’s got some size, but it’s right on the edge for intermediates – experts will love it. The wind is light enough to keep it clean, and the direction is almost perfect for the reef. Crowds are possible here sometimes, so get on it early.
Tuesday 21 July morning is another good one. A 6ft swell from the ESE with a 10-second period, clean offshore wind from the SW, and energy at 653. It’s right up there with Monday as the best of the lot. The swell’s a bit smaller, but the wind is better – true offshore. This is a real treat.
Later in the week, Thursday 23 July morning is worth a mention. It’s glassy – dead calm – with a 5ft SE swell. The period is a short 6 seconds, so it’ll be a bit weak and lumpy, but the glassy conditions make it a fun, clean little session for beginners. The energy is only 271 (moderate), so keep expectations in check.
The second week fades out with smaller, cleaner swells. Friday 24 July morning has a 4ft E swell at 8 seconds with a moderate offshore wind, giving clean waves but nothing special. It’s a far cry from the Monday and Tuesday standouts.
So, to wrap it up: the first week is largely a write-off. The real action is the mornings of Monday 20 July and Tuesday 21 July. Those are your best bets. The conditions align, the swell has some grunt, and the wind is favourable. After that, it’s small and clean but not worth a special trip.
Rusty.
