Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here with the lowdown on Anne Street Reef. Gotta tell ya straight, the start of this forecast is grim.
We’re lookin’ at a big ol’ gap with nothin’ worth paddlin’ for. From Saturday, July 4th, all the way through Tuesday, July 7th, it’s just no go. The wind’s howling up to 19 mph, it’s all cross and lumpy, and the ocean is a mess. Swell’s there, but you’d be fighting a losing battle. The wave energy is weak to moderate, topping out around 664 (moderate) Monday afternoon, but it’s not worth the paddle out.
There’s a glimmer of hope on Wednesday, July 8th in the morning. We get a proper groundswell from the SE with a long 11-second period – that’s real energy. The swell is a solid 8ft with a combined energy of 2641 (very strong). The wind is cross-offshore from the S at 16 mph, so the waves should be clean and lined up. This is a reef break, so with that size and period, it’s gonna produce some proper, powerful waves. But let me be clear: at that size, this is strictly for the experts. Beginners, you’re gonna get worked. This is the standout of the whole forecast.
Thursday, July 9th morning is another good window with clean, cross-off winds and a SE groundswell at 7ft with a 11-second period. Energy is 1513 (strong). Another solid day for the experienced crew, though a touch smaller than Wednesday.
Then the plug gets pulled. By Friday, July 10th the energy drops, and from Saturday, July 11th through the second week, it’s mostly small and weak. There’s a little blip on Sunday, July 12th morning where it goes dead glassy with a light offshore breeze, but the swell is only 2ft with weak energy at 195. It’s rideable but nothing special. After that, it’s onshore cross-breezes and tiny waves for days, with energy numbers mostly below 100. Don’t plan any surf trips around it.
So, for the full sixteen days, your only real shot is that Wednesday and Thursday window. If you’re good enough, go get it.
