Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming up for Anne Street Reef. It’s a mixed bag, but there’s a couple of windows that could be worth paddling out for.
The water is currently sitting at 68°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so you might want an extra layer.
The first real chance to get wet is on Tuesday morning, the 7th. We’ve got a 6 ft swell out of the SE with a period of 8 seconds, and the wind is cross-off, keeping things clean. The combined energy is moderate at 556. It’s not huge, but it’s surfable. The afternoon on Tuesday gets messy, so make the most of the morning.
The best bet on offer looks to be Sunday morning, the 12th. The swell is a modest 3 ft from the ESE with a period of 11 seconds, but the wind is glassy—dead calm. That’s the kind of morning you get up early for. Clean conditions and a decent 11-second period will give the reef some shape. The combined energy is weak at 251, but with those conditions, it’s the standout of the outlook.
Wednesday morning, the 8th, has a bigger 4 ft swell but with a short 12-second period and cross wind, it’s likely to be lumpy. Not worth the fight.
After that, the surf tapers off. There’s a few mornings with small, clean waves (like Thursday the 10th, Saturday the 11th, and Monday the 13th), with swell averaging around 2 ft to 3 ft and cross-off winds, but the energy is low. They’re just ordinary, rideable days.
From the 14th through to the 22nd, it gets pretty bleak. There’s a long stretch of tiny surf, mostly under 3 ft, with poor quality and weak energy. A few days like the 19th have a clean offshore wind on a tiny 3 ft swell, but it’s barely a ripple. There’s a gap of several days with no real recommendations. The best of that second week is maybe the 18th or 19th with small, clean conditions, but it’s nothing to write home about.
So, in short: if you want the best waves, get out Sunday morning the 12th for that glassy session. Tuesday morning the 7th is your next best call. The rest is small and ordinary.
Rusty, signing off.
