Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tullan Strand over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again. Let’s break down the same outlook for Tullan Strand, but in feet and miles per hour.
The next couple of weeks are looking pretty slow. The water is about 63°F right now, which is a solid 6°F warmer than usual for this time of year – that’s very unusual, so you might be able to get away with a spring suit.
Your only real window for a fun session is early on. Thursday morning, July 9th, has a small 3ft west swell with a 9-second interval, and the wind is glassy. The combined energy is moderate (133), so there’s a little bit of push, but nothing special. It’s surfable, but very ordinary. Friday morning, July 10th, is similar: 3ft west swell, but the period bumps up to 11 seconds, giving it a bit more grunt (184 moderate energy). The wind is glassy again, so it’ll be clean. That’s your best bet of the whole forecast – a clean little session before the afternoon winds come up. Tullan is a consistent, exposed beach break, and it needs west swell, which is what we’re getting.
After that, it dries up. From Saturday, July 11th, all the way through to Wednesday, July 23rd, the surf is tiny and poor. Wave heights drop to 1ft to 3ft, and the energy readings are weak, mostly between 6 and 110. The winds are often cross-off or offshore, but there’s no swell to work with. There are a couple of glassy mornings on July 22nd and 23rd with 2ft west swell and 9-second intervals, but the energy is still weak (75 and 86). The waves are surfable but very ordinary – you’ll be fighting for scraps.
The second week is a total loss. The swell stays small, under 3ft, and the wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, making it choppy and poor. Best to leave the board in the car.
Don’t lose hope, though. Things can change, and Tullan is a fairly consistent spot, so it usually doesn’t stay flat for long.
Rusty.
