Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a straight look at what’s coming up. Right now, we’ve got a pretty quiet and frustrating run ahead. For the next several days, Tullan Strand is just not playing the game. We’re looking at a solid gap with no real surf on the cards from now until we get a little window later.
The start of the period, from Monday, July 6th, right through to Saturday, July 11th, is a write-off. We’ve got limp swell, mostly around 2 ft to 4 ft from the west, but the wind is all wrong – cross-onshore and choppy, with poor conditions each day. The combined energy is weak to moderate at best (185 down to 88), and the period is short (around 8 to 10 seconds), so there’s no power, no shape, just messy little waves. Don’t bother paddling out.
Then we get a little flicker on Wednesday morning, July 8th. The wind goes glassy, dead calm out of the WSW at 3 mph. The swell is tiny, 3 ft from the west (9 seconds), and the combined energy is only 133. But for a brief moment, it's clean. That’s the only decent-looking morning in the first week, but it’s weak. Not worth rushing for.
After that, we drop off. From around July 10th through to July 17th, the swell plummets. You’re looking at tiny 0.7 ft to 2 ft leftovers, mostly from the WNW. The combined energy dips into the teens and twenties. There is a brief, clean spell on Sunday, July 12th (cross-off wind at 9 mph, 1 ft to 1 ft), but it’s barely a ripple.
Around Saturday, July 18th, the wind picks up hard from the WNW at 18 to 22 mph, and the swell tries to bump up to 5 ft by afternoon, but it’s a short period (6-7 seconds) windswell. The combined energy hits 206, but the wind is onshore and lumpy, so it’s a full-on mess. There’s no quality. A day for the kite crew, not a paddler.
Absolutely nothing in this 16-day window stands out as a standout session. The whole forecast is a long, flat stretch with only one brief glassy morning on July 8th. The best you can hope for is a clean, tiny wave, but it's not going to get your heart pumping. Tullan is a consistent spot, and it tends not to stay this poor for long, so forecasts can always shift. But for now, park your board.
Rusty.
