Alright, Rusty here.
Let’s take a look at the next couple weeks. It’s going to be a test of patience. The first decent, clean surf doesn't show up until after a long run of choppy, onshore junk.
Friday morning, July 3rd, at Tullan Strand is where we start. It’s small, just a 0.9m west swell, but the water is way warmer than usual for now, sitting at 64°F. The wind is light from the SSE, keeping the surface clean, and there’s moderate wave energy in the water (217). You could get a few, but it’s not going to blow your mind. That afternoon the onshores come on strong and mess it all up.
Then we hit a rough patch. Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th are no good. A 1.7m swell on Saturday might get your hopes up, but with a 30 km/h cross-onshore wind, it’s going to be a lumpy, blown-out mess. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are more of the same – onshore wind and chop. The energy gets up there (476 at its peak during the messy stuff), but it’s all wasted.
Thursday morning the 9th is the light at the end of the tunnel. The wind goes totally glassy – dead calm – and that 0.8m west swell has some push to it with a 10-second period. It’s weak on energy (117) but the conditions will be absolutely perfect, smooth, and clean. This is your first real winner for a quiet session.
Then we go into another quiet period. Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th are tiny, knee-high. Saturday morning is glassy again, but the swell is barely 0.7m with 84 energy. It’s a longboard day, nothing special.
The real gold is Monday morning, July 13th. This is the standout of the whole forecast. The swell is a clean 0.8m from the west, but the period jumps to a nice, long 12 seconds, giving it real groundswell punch. Combined energy is 225, and the wind is light offshore out of the ESE – clean, groomed waves. This is your session.
Tuesday the 14th morning is also good. More light offshore wind from the ESE, with a 1.0m west swell, 10-second period, and 190 energy. Not as strong as Monday, but a very solid, clean option.
After that, it fades away to tiny, flat dribble by the second weekend. The 18th is glassy but with nothing to ride. Your window is Monday the 13th.
Rusty.
