Table - best surf conditions forecast for The Maze (Tiree) over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for The Maze (Tiree).
It’s a quiet start to the period, I won’t lie to you. We’ve got a long stretch of flat to tiny, messy conditions ahead. The first real glimmer doesn’t show up until the morning of Tuesday the 14th of July. Even then, we’re talking small, weak groundswell pushing in at about 2ft from the west with a nice long 11-second period. The water temp is sitting around 55°, which is pretty much what you’d expect for this time of year. The winds are light and cross-offshore, keeping it clean, but the wave energy is really moderate at best (132). Wednesday the 15th offers a little more of the same early with a clean offshore breeze from the east, but the swell’s even smaller.
The standout window for the whole 16-day outlook is easily Monday the 20th of July. It’s not big, but the quality will be there. We’ve got a clean, 1ft to 2ft westerly groundswell, with a period around 10 seconds, and the wind is glassy – dead calm. That’s the kind of morning you want to be on the water. The energy is still on the lower side (52 and 75), but with conditions that clean, you’ll be making the most of every little peak that rolls through. Crowds can pop up here sometimes, so keep an eye out.
Later in the outlook, things get more interesting size-wise but the conditions turn rough. On Sunday the 26th of July, we see a solid pulse of swell hitting 8ft from the WNW with a strong wave energy reading (772). That’s expert territory for sure – too big for most. The wind is a light cross-shore in the morning but swings to a moderate cross-shore in the afternoon, and the period drops to a short 8 seconds. It’s going to be powerful but pretty messy. Not the clean, long walls you want on a point like this.
For the rest of the second week, you’re mostly looking at choppy, cross-onshore winds and small, weak swell. Not much to get excited about until that last Sunday burst.
The pick of the whole run is Monday the 20th of July – glassy, clean, and all yours if you’re patient.
Rusty.
