    The Lowdown

Alright crew, Rusty here, time for the imperial version.

Let’s be real: the next sixteen days are a total bust. There’s nothing worth paddling out for. The entire 16-day forecast window is basically flat. We’ve got a solid stretch from Tuesday the 4th of August all the way through to early on Friday the 14th of August where the combined energy reading sits at zero (0) – no swell whatsoever. The wind does offer some clean windows, especially the light offshore and glassy mornings, but without waves, it’s useless.

The only tiny sign of life is a little pulse of swell on the afternoon of Friday the 14th of August, with a tiny 1ft from the NNE, a period of just 3 seconds, and combined energy of only 2. That’s barely a ripple, and it’s paired with a 15 mph cross-offshore breeze. The next morning, Saturday the 15th, sees a similar 1ft from the north with a 3-second period and energy of 2, but again, that’s not surfable. The rest of the window is just more of the same – dead flat.

The one local break we’ve got is St Cyprien, a beach and jetty setup. It’s exposed to the swell and likes an ESE direction, but none of that matters when there’s nothing to work with. The water temp is sitting at 77°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, so at least it’s nice for a swim.

There is absolutely no standout day here. If you’re desperate to get wet, this stretch is better suited for a paddleboard or a kite session if the wind picks up, but for a surfboard, leave it at home. The good news is that when a spot is this inconsistent, it rarely stays this way for long, so keep an eye on the forecasts – things can change.

    Rusty.
