The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what Sagone has on offer.
Straight up, it’s a tough outlook for the next couple of weeks. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with no real surf to get excited about. The first glimmer of something rideable doesn’t even show up until Monday afternoon, the 14th of September, and even then it’s just a tiny 1ft slop from the WNW with a short 4-second period and weak energy (3). The wind is onshore, so it's not going to be pretty.
For the next week and a half after that, it’s pretty much the same story. We get a few more of these tiny, weak pulses – like a 1ft on Wednesday the 16th and a 1ft on Wednesday the 23rd – but they’re all plagued by onshore or cross-onshore winds and periods so short they barely count. The combined energy is in the single digits (1 to 3), so there’s just no push. The whole period is essentially flat, with no standout days. For a spot like Sagone, a beach and point break that is already inconsistent, a blank run like this is pretty normal for the area. It’s just one of those times where you don’t even bother checking the tide charts.
To be honest, with these tiny, weak swells and persistent onshore winds, this setup looks far more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer. If you’ve got a kite, the Tuesday morning the 15th is glassy, but there’s no swell to push a surfboard.
Hang in there. Forecasts can change.
