The Lowdown
Alright crew, Rusty here again. I’m looking at the next sixteen days for Sagone, and I gotta tell you, it’s a total desert for surf.
We’re in for a long, quiet stretch. From Saturday, July 25th, all the way through to Sunday, August 9th, there’s just nothing that’s gonna get you out of bed early. The swell is basically non-existent, and the few tiny pulses we see top out at a combined energy of 26 – that’s weak as weak can be. The water is running at 82°F, which is a solid 7°F warmer than usual for this spot, so it’s like a warm bath, but that doesn’t help the wave count.
Sagone itself is an inconsistent beach and point break that rarely lines up. On the morning of Sunday the 26th, you’ll see a 2ft swell from the SSW, but with a short 5-second period and onshore wind, it’s gonna be a total washout. For the rest of the run, we’ve got plenty of glassy mornings, but zero swell to go with them – flat, flat, flat. The afternoons pick up a breeze, but with no waves, that’s just a chop on a pond. The kite surfers might find something on the windier days, but for paddle surfing, this is a bust.
It’s a normal quiet spell for this area. Forecasts can always change, but for now, you’re better off finding something else to do. Don’t hold your breath.
